So many bad habits set in young kids by bad coaches as mites and squirts. Poor skating techniques, poor skills, no understanding of passing and teamwork, play to win at all costs (or chose the kids with the hot moms).

Teaching kids proper skating techniques is the foundation for everything going forward. Also, don't let the kid that maybe a little more advanced in his technique just go end to end when he gets the puck. Teach him to use teammates, pass the puck and learn other aspects, even if it is at the cost of a few wins.

It amazes me how many kids I have seen that get to the AAA and Jr's levels of hockey, that still have such poor edge work, overall skating skills and game knowledge.

I've seen multiple kids who could just fly be in the first cuts when they want to play AAA for the reasons you cite. They just don't get how the game is played.

No wonder Zo couldn't find Sveden's roster. I can't either.......... Thanks for the correction.

I saw 1 Sveden PP and #3 was not on it. #7 is getting all the TOI.

Great goal by 26 in blue driving wide and taking it to the net...3 was running the point on the last PP by Sweden to end the period.

Yes, nice one and happy it wasn't #3 he left in the dust
IMO Boqvist and Ginning (#2) are the first defensive pairing

Paul Cotter of lil ole USHL Lincoln Stars, teammate of Hawk pick Slavin, my friend. IIRC Cotter is a centerman. 2 way game this kid has, damn nice player. ..... Think he's due back with Slavin for another yr in Lincoln before college.

They have Bovqist playing the left side as a right shot.

Being at the WJSS last yr in MI was fantastic. Mind boggling seeing draft pick after draft pick dazzle in one game after another with rivals Sveden vs Finland and USA v Canada.

Would add Gord Miller is my absolute favorite PBP guy. So prepared and fills any dead time with NHL, Olympic, Red Army, WJC, Summit Series story after story. Compare and contrast that with Edzo and Foley talking cookies.

How is the younger Slavin looking? If he's anything like his brother you're getting a super religious but very determined player.

Didn’t know being religious and a determined player are normally mutually exclusive.

Brouwer in a second for the right price, but remember they knew before they traded Brouwer to the Capitals for the Danault first round pick that he wanted more than they wanted to pay long term due to the core dollars being set.

You think Brouwer wants to play for peanuts?

That would be the issue.

- wiz1901

Price would be the first issue. I think he would be able to get more than the Hawks would offer him. If he signs that would that limit what the Hawks can do at the TDL if they are good. Obviously if he is good and the Hawks are not they could flip him at the TDL for a mid round pick.

Term would be the next issue. I would only give him a one year contract without a NMC.

The third consideration is how much would he bring to the team. He has averaged 24 points and 75 games per year in the last two years. He is 32. Hayden had 13 points in 47 games playing on the bottom lines and not on the PP. Panik had 35 points between Hawks and Yotes and we could not wait to get rid of him.

And does he:
a) allow you to keep a player in Rockford to get more seasoning
OR
b) take some meaningful minutes from a young player that could gain valuable experience playing on the top line and PP.

I would be ok with bringing him in for 1 year at the right price, but not thrilled.

Very very very religious like his brother. No nonsense hardest worker on the ice, good size, go to the greasy areas, positionally sound type player, good north-south speed . Q mentioned he was the biggest surprise and stood out most of all players at the just ended prospect camp.

Jacob played for the Steel and I got to watch him live for a yr in Jrs. I'm a fan.

Trade proposal:
AA dahlstrom/snuggard 2020 3rd for
Helm and nyquist
Detroit gets money off the books to sign larkin hawks get top 6 rw and 3rd line center who is place holder for wise when he is ready in a couple of years. Get stronger down the middle i don't know helm's faceoff % but has speed contract not great 3 years left at 3.8 but gives time for barret and wise to develop. Just bored waiting for something to happen.

That seems pretty cheap for a 26yr old 1st line winger.......
