I don't know if Bowman was behind Darling's results.

new management may be taking baby steps because they are new, and don't have cell phones to check on things.

The problem in my opinion, is the Hurricanes are in no rush to unload the two bigger names out there, asked for the moon and that shut down the conversations now that the teams offices are on summer vacation.

That and the fact there are solid reasons to not see defender Justin Faulk as solid 2 way defender...you can look at the points and the poor plus / minus all day and decide which side is correct, but I bet every GM checked with his staff and they said help feed the hesitations in trading too. much to Carolina for him.

I think the new Hurricanes can afford to judge their players slowly and not be rash...Calgary wanted this to kids and were willing to offer Hamilton Ferland and disgruntled Fox to get him...nothing wrong with thinking Hamilton is an offensive producer...but the rest of the league probably viewed the long term upside of Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm over Skinner or Faulk b/c they are cheaper and there is reason to see their upside.

Zykov has 12 nhl games in two season and do we know if Samsonov originally hired in 2004 will be around?

I am not gonna believe any Zykiov scouting report you throw up, because last preseason you were selling Rask and Lindholm as guys who you wouldn't trade for Toews and his equals...

- wiz1901

I still wouldn't trade them for Toews, dude. Not due to Toews being a bad player, but due to him being so goddamned expensive.

Rask took a massive step backwards this season. Lindholm didn't take the step forward they needed him to. Now one is an expensive 4th line player and the other is in Calgary.

Seems unlikely. Brind'amour loves that guy. They're trying to trade Skinner and Faulk though to get more cost certainty going forward.
- BINGO!

Soo Seabrook + Crawford for Skinner and Faulk? Plenty of cost certainty there

I had no idea about the Forsling situation. Totally blindsided me here in my armchair as I tried to figure out what value he could fetch. Does this mean we won't see what he can really do until 2019-20, assuming the surgery is similar to what Kane and Kruger had?

Although AA would have to wave to go there, which isn't out of the questions.

The good news is, come October 4th, his NMC becomes a modified NTC. So, he loses quite a bit of leverage in blocking a trade.

With Carolina, keep in mind there has to be some urgency, because most games are about 60% full, and of that crowd, well over 50% usually are sporting the visitor jerseys.

They have been trying hard since the deadline to trade Staal and their efforts with a salary eat went nowhere...

Technically it already is, they can ask for his 10 team list, if they wanted to.

Skeptical about his ability to win without the most talent in the league.

I do not think it is unreasonable to assume that given the talent level in chicago that many coaches could have won a few of those cups.

I believe that is what most of us think who are not big Q fans.

You’d only get one - NOT both.

Wiz, who would you want in return?
- 6628

I think they need another scorer so I would say Skinner over offenseman/point shooter.
So much happens quickly in the attack zone and and Skinner fits what how they want to attack. He can play with various line mates and even can move to the right side if necessary.

I wonder how this determination JUST came to light after the convention ends?
It’s an interesting dilemma we have as fans never really timely informed on players and their futures.

ha. I keep hearing this from Philly fans (my brother is a hardcore Flyers guy as well).

I guess we will have to find out for ourselves as Hawks fans - for better or for worse.

Love the guy. Great work ethic and all that. Just glad some other team is paying and playing him haha

Brandon Manning may be rugged, but not in a good way. He's also not a stay at home defenseman lol
- bulet13

Don´t know what kind of role they gave him in Philly but I strongly believe that his role will be more of that in Chicago. If you look at purely stats last season Manning was..

4th in points
5th in TOI/GP
9th in +/-
4th in hits
6th in blocks
7th in giveaways
3rd in takeaways

by Philly dmen. I don´t have any eyetest on him but those stats don´t look that bad. I´m quite sure he will have more of a defensive role in Chicago.

Id rather have a kid learn on the job then have this guy take away those same minutes. Given the current roster and major concerns in goal.

Just to be clear: those stat positions are among Flyer defensemen?

If there are 7 defensive positions on the team, he's at the bottom of them in 3 of the 7 catagories - with an average position of between 5th and 6th on the team.

Better him than giving experience to a younger skater? I don't know - if it keeps a player in Rockford who should be in Rockford gaining experience, ok, I guess.

Someone else mentioned this in the last blog, but Powers has an Athletics article about Q possibly having a line composed of Kane, Saad, and Schmaltz. If that plays out, who plays with Toews? One option:

DeBrincat - Toews - Sikura
Saad - Schmaltz - Kane

Maybe swap out Sikura for Hayden? I think Sikura has top 6 potential while Hayden's water line is bottom 6, ideally 3rd line but can play in the top 6 for brief spells here and there.

Or bump Anisimov to LW with Toews and move DeBrincat over to RW. However, that would necessitate a new 3C. Does Q trust the likes of Kampf, Highmore, or Johnson? There's always Kruger who Q definitely trusts so maybe make him the 3C and one of those 3 Hog prospects the 4C.
