I agree that there won't be a trade. I don't believe that Bennett will be a top-6 player unfortunately though... Especially not considering he'd have to pass JG, SM, MT, MB, JN, and EL. I really do hope he finds that potential but I just don't see it happening at this point. I think 40-50 pts is what he could average in a good season.
- LittleBroDougie

Pretty sure the first injury in the top 6 wing Bennett will get his chance.

But I am kinda pumped for a 3rd line of Bennett-Janko-Czarnik

Lots of speed and skill.

Edited in how I’d like to see it. Dube looks great. Prout and Brouwer can eat popcorn and practice with the team. Ryan can take faceoffs then cycle to the wing and let Dube play down the middle.

You've listed 16 forwards and 8 Defencemen
They're only allowed a 23 man roster.
You're at 24 without the minimum 2 goalies .

I think Kulak and Andersson make this team, in which case 1 of Kulak, Andersson, or Stone get to sit and be a reliever! If Valimaki pushes his way onto the team, that creates even more of a log jam for 5,6, 7 D spots.

I don't see both Mangipane and Dube making this team, although I wouldn't mind, there just isn't room for 2 rookies with the forward depth the Flames have after the moves this summer.

Even if Brouwer is bought out, I don't think there's room for 2 rookies. Could happen, but I'm doubtful

If I'm Dorion, and have a strong sense Tkachuk isn't signing, I'm talking to Colorado about re-acquiring their own 1st for next year before talking to anyone about roster players
- rmull905

yea that's actually a good idea, they might have to sweeten it a bit
but definitely has to be done prior to the draft lottery or even the season when you start seeing how bad the Sens will be lol

If I am Colorado I am going to hang up the phone. Cannot believe with all the insecurity and crap that is going on in Ottawa that they did not give up the #4 this year.

They might yes, the draft lottery is always a gamble though... ideally Colorado comes out with a 1-3 pick this year, Hughes if everything lands their way, but could be resigned to a 10-15 pick as well.

Yeah figured it would go without saying the players listed beyond 13th forward and 7th defenseman were in the call up order.

Ottawa has a middle of a pack roster and things could go either way depending on what they get out of their goaltending. It was absolutely the right move to keep the pick last year as it'll be almost impossible for Ottawa to be as bad as they were last year.

Unless they found a way to trade their 1st line LW for almost nothing or maybe lose an elite defenseman.

Without Karlsson that D is looking pretty shabby. Ceci turns into their #1?

That'd be nice but with BP's love for Ryan, I'm not so sure he'll be on the 4th line when Bennett and Janko struggled offensively last year albeit while looking like a good pair

I really don't think Karlsson is going anywhere. They'll eventually cave to his demands and give him the Tavares like bonus-laden contract he wants. Even if they don't extend him, I doubt he gets traded before the trade deadline. The team is going to go how Karlsson goes and last year was a disaster for him off the ice. He had to deal with a pretty major injury, a pregnant wife, a lost child, and the Hoffman nonsense. He should be back chasing the Norris this year.

I'm not going to argue Boedker is better than Hoffman, but he's still a quality NHL player. He was also more productive than Hoffman when you factor in ice time. Who knows what effect, if any, that Hoffman had on the dressing room, but if getting rid of him improves the atmosphere around the team, that usually leads to better play on the ice.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong last year, and it's pretty likely they'll bounce back to be a middle of the league team.

Supposedly some major tension between Karlsson and the owner. If that is true and he does not want to be in Ottawa then they have no choice but to trade him.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Stone as well who is going to Arbitration in a couple days.

There is potential for things to get much worse, and with it not having their first could be the ultimate kick in the pants.

Well obviously you guys in Calgary all love Iggy, but honestly his time with the Pens and all his "just fun"-attitude just showed that he is hardly a winner when it mattered most (and indeed, what has he won?)... but ok, there are worse non-winners in HOF...

He's said he wants to be in Ottawa. He loves the city, and both he and his wife are heavily involved in the community. The reports were also that he was willing to sign an extension earlier this summer, but they wouldn't give him the front-loaded bonuses he wanted.

Unless they're getting a package like the Nordiques got for Lindros, I highly doubt he's traded.

He almost literally won every other major hockey championship there is, but okay whatever you say.

At least we didn't have to suck ass until we have 2 generational players on our roster, I believe all of the Pens cups can be attributed to that

You're assuming he will just sign for market value in Ottawa. I bet his asking price in Ottawa is higher than his asking price would be on a team like Dallas or Tampa (especially when you factor in their loose tax laws).

I think the time to extend Karlsson has passed. They went "all in" ( ) when they traded for Brassard & made a few moves for that last playoff push. That was the Senators attempt to show Karlsson they were "serious" about winning--I'd say that was a failure.

Ottawa isn't going to pay him, if they were he would already have signed so they could put this PR nightmare behind them.

The team is garbage and the relationship has definitely soured. Why the hell would EK waste the rest of his career just to be loyal to a franchise that has not always made winning a championship a priority?

All the reports said they had pretty much agreed on the dollar amount but Karlsson wanted a lockout proof contract that was mostly bonuses. That sounds like something that could be worked out.

I don't know why you think they haven't made winning a priority. If anything, they'd be in a better spot if they had avoided the win now mentality. They haven't shied away from big moves or big contracts. They traded for and signed Ryan, traded for Phaneuf, traded for Brassard, traded for Duchene. Most of those have blown up in their faces but they have made winning a priority.

They also have a decent group of prospects coming with Chabot, Brown, White, Batherson, and Gustavsson.

Things really aren't that bad in Ottawa once they figure the Karlsson thing out. Lots of overreacting.

You're right, won everything with Canada and individually 1x Art / 2x Maurice / 1x Messier... its just his impression in Pittsburgh left a lot to be desired (after each loss i just heared&read "i want to have fun").

Btw., i think Flames have a great team for '18-19.
