- Atomic Wedgie
it is truly amazing the level of latent Leaf hatred that exists in these people.
good things happen to the Leafs and people can't handle it
"Tampa can sign 34932009 players and get them under the CAP - Leafs can't"
"Leaf's fans already planning the parade"
endless endless butthurt
one thing never changes... even when the Leafs turn a corner (and no that doesn't mean I think they are a lock to win the cup this year) everyone freaks out 'cause "the Leafs aren't allowed to be a good team".
man people are stupid |

Leafs should have never been a bad team with their resources.
What a frankin joke.
Any Sens rumours?

Who knows maybe playing in Austria.
I get your point though. Fans only look at the ceiling of a high draft pick and always think they will reach that height.
Like when Liljegren was compared to Erik Karlsson last year. I know some guys that think he'll actually be that good. - PatC80
exactly
it always strikes as funny... some guy is called a prospect for how long?
if prospect "A" hasn't even impressed at his third prospect camp/training camp... is he still a prospect?
is it at the fourth attempt?
the fifth?
if a guy is consistently on teams for years where he doesn't excel in his role.. when does he become a non-prospect?
crazy... 2nd best thing LouLams did trade wise was to move 5 players for one... moving out a bunch of prospects who likely would never make an impact.
we were all shocked when he did it... and does anyone remember any of the five guys sent packing? nope
at some point we need to simply trust in the current regime under Shanny... they do seem to know what they are doing...
do we any guys who look like wastes of time? what did the Leafs trade to get Plekanec?
they'll take the same approach if they acquire someone else... lower end prospects that they believe they can replace |

Excellent.
Why are we discussing this here.
Seriously, we don't give a (frank). We had the best rookie crop in 87 years and then 2 years later we won the Calder with a team that wasn't over-aged. This is a Leafs thread. Do you really think we give a rats ass what your prospect pool look like? - Aetherial
I have no idea. I came here to read the article and comments and some leaf fans made posts about Flyers having no prospects because they havent heard of any. As if they would considering they dont follow philly, Its not like I can name off every teams good prospects. |

that's true - they should never been bad with their resources - but we have Ballard and his legacy to thank for that.... tons of money that he wouldn't spend on the team..

Some of these name ring a bell, but not many. Is this the same group of lads that got raped by the Marlies? - walshyleafsfan
Some not all. I believe a lot of them were in juniors. Lyon was on the Phantoms. Morin was but I think he was hurt and dint play much as I believe a couple other guys were. Lyon was fantastic in the playoffs. Im disappointed he wont be with the FLyers this season....Well not until Neuvirth gets his semi annual injury.

Yup. I mean we don't always have to trade for other teams failed prospects. We have our own. |

Yes. He's still a prospect until management say otherwise. Leafs have lot of prospects that can help them on the wing and on D in a few years, which coincidentally is what they need |

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, and Lord knows I was not a Domi fan, but Domi did his job there..
Berube, McCarty and Adam Burt on the ice fir the Flyers. Domi and 4 sweethearts for the Leafs.
Burt starts pounding Tomas Applecheeks Kaberle.
Domi needs to do just enough to get Burt off of Kaberle - which he did. Watch the tape - Domi isn't filling in Burt - he's just letting him know he is there. - Atomic Wedgie
100% agreed. Domi was the third man in but he was trying to seperate him from Kaberle who has never been in a fight in his life. It was a goon line vs Domi.
Domi, after the Niedermayer incident, was useless in my books. He was usually really good about his role but that one was easily the biggest (frank) up of his career and came at a terrible time for the team. |

Love how Toronto fans extremely confident this will be the year the hoist the cup b/c they got john tavares. We will see. When people say isles didnt have the supporting cast to get far i say look at the production of the team.
For you Toronto fans, Matthews is far superior to Tavares already. So just wait till you have to sign him, while Tavares continues to slow down.
Id take it a step farther and say Kadri might prove better than Tavares.
One player doesnt make the difference to winning a cup. He couldnt get his last team beyond first round, what makes you think he going to take a team that hasnt seen a final in my lifetime there.
Bring on the season and happy for islanders to play this year Vegas knights. - AdamFrench
But who actually wrote this though.
I think the interesting thing about Tavares is that the plan is for him to play with Marner. It's a beautiful thing because Tavares will help Marner hit his ceiling faster and if all goes well, Marner should help keep Tavares at a higher level for longer when he hits his mid 30s and Marner is in his prime. That's going to be a dynamite pairing. |

They can't use all their cap space, though, so they're not penalized next year for this year's bonuses. - Feeling Glucky?
That's what I'm saying. Mirtle's numbers were based on 7.5M for both Willie and Johnsson (so phallic ), which leaves ~3.5M in cap space this year.
Now, that'll be probably closer to 5-6M by the deadline I think, so we might load up then, but right now, there's not a whole lot we can do for 3.5ish with the UFAs that are left.
Depth center? 5/6 vet dman? None of that really sounds all that appealing. |

I'd be ok with them trading some better prospects away for players they can resign without interfering with the core cap. Not for rentals. I think you're ignoring history with this vein of thought. Very short sighted in my opinion, which was the issue with management before this current office. - BetterCallSaul
Who cares about history. Has nothing to do with now. Different management group. Different team...back then the leafs werent a piece or two away .....they are now. |
