You mean when Tomas Kaberle was there to hold the guy down for him and to hide behind when challenged?

I really, really, REALLY respected Domi for years, even during his NYR days. And when he beat up that Flyers fan in the box, dude had it coming. But that whole incident ruined him for me.

- jmatchett383

Kaberle was barely strong enough to hold his stick, never mind another player down. What the hell are you talking about?

This is true.

Man, when Gudas did that, I wanted him banned for life. You can't do that.

As a rental? No

Top prospects never get dealt at the deadline.

Even Mcdonaugh, TB traded their 3rd/4th best prospect

- Santo_44

3rd/4th best Toronto prospect would be considered high-end by Philly.

Why? Philadelphia has arguably the best prospect pool in the NHL, even with Konecny, Provorov, and Sanheim graduating to the NHL. Carter Hart is the 2nd ranked goalie prospect, Morgan Frost led the OHL in scoring as a 19-year-old, Phillippe Myers is a highly-regarded right handed D, Joel Farabeee was (to me) a steal at #14. They also got a gift getting Nolan Patrick.

If anything, they Flyers will be looking to move prospects for NHL help in the next 2-3 years.

Flyers trading a loved player to a team they will be battling for the playoffs, the cost would be too much for them to make it. Simmonds will not be traded for a low end prospect and a 7th or junk depth, it would cost Toronto some kind of future asset.
- Glak18

The leafs will win their division while the Flyers will be in 2nd wild card territory.
Not much of a battle.

I think you guys an TB will be 1/2 in the division, I don't think the Leafs are a lock to win it.

The Flyers finished 3rd in the Metro with injured goalies and less than ideal roster. It's not totally overhauled, but it has begun. I don't think they'll topple Pittsburgh or Washington, but I don't see any other team in the division who's better.

Let me repeat myself:

"And when he beat up that Flyers fan in the box, dude had it coming"

Edit: As a Flyers fan, I never liked guys like Carcillo and Rinaldo because they were absolute jokes. I never liked Billy Tibbets, Jesse Boulerice, or Ulf Samuelsson, either. Just because they were members of my favorite team doesn't mean I didn't think they were jackasses. After what Gudas did to Perrault last year, he's in the same boat.

I am pulling my Simmonds offer off the table. This is why you lock the door when you have a Skype business call, you do not want the kids running in screaming.

A recent blog on this site said Simmons is the most overrated player on Philly!
- Bullot

great - then he should be available at a reasonable price.

not sure who said... but if you can acquire a player such as Simmonds, who clearly would bring a dimension to the Leafs forwards that they don't have in abundance... you do.

figure out later if he's a rental or long term signing... these guys aren't dumb, they know what the respective CAP situations of the teams are.

Kadri Simmonds Kapanen - I said this last week - would be a great line.

the horse-crap about a 1st round pic... if someone else wants to pay a 1st and a prospect then good for Philly, I'm thinking not.

can't have it both ways - "He's overrated"... "we want a 1st and your best prospect"...

besides Philly thinks they have the best prospects on the planet - why do they even want the Leaf's or anyone else's

FWIW, the person who said he's overrated is the Penguins blogger. So take that as you may.

Also, aside from maybe Buffalo and maybe Arizona, what team has a better prospect pool than the Flyers?

That's true, but they've had a lot of gradutaions (as have the Flyers, granted). I'm still shocked they got Sergachev for Drouin.

Both the hockeywriters and Dobbers had Philly ranked #1, so they're obviously doing something right.

The Habs have done a hell of a job building up that Tampa defense.

wasn't questioning whether Flyers do or don't have the best prospect pool - if that's the organizations/fans perception - then great.

more making the point... if you already have the best, and you have the best top 9 wingers, what are you hoping to get from teh Leafs?

We don't actually have that much cap space, not when you factor in bonuses, which we can't use Horton for.

They don't want to be just best, they want to be the bestest! Simple.
