Remember that time Stan Bowman traded Trevor Daley for 38 yr old Rob Scuderi and then Trevor Daley helped the Penguins win 2 Cups? Good times.....FIRE STAN BOWMAN - EnzoD
Sure you can have Daley back. |

It's odd how tough Kronwall is when a player is coming out of the d zone with his head down and how much of a wussy he is the rest of the time. - jmatchett383

NYR: Lundquest.......Terrible in the playoffs - sammy87
I"d be so happy if this was true... but it's just crazy....
Oh, and Travis Zajac isn't overrated. He's overpaid. Nobody has claimed he was very good since Sleazy Parise left town. Lou panicked and overpaid him for an assload of years. (an Assload is 8 years).
And for the record an assload for Kreiderbomb isn't 8 years. It's a lot more because he has such ample room.... Just saying. Nothing personal, and not that there is anything wrong with that. Good day.
I said GOOD DAY. |

Try telling that to an NHL player. Let's see, you have 70+ mph shots coming at you and the refs typically give much leeway to the defensemen (note the plural) and even goalie for crosschecking, roughing, elbowing, and hooking you. It is a brutal role. There is a reason why few players in the league are willing to do this much - it is a good way to shorten one's career. At the same time it is essential to the success of a power play. Without it, power plays often reduce to just passing around the puck at the points and no quality shots.
Crosby actually used to do it but after his concussions and broken jaw he generally doesn't anymore. Hornqvist and Aston-Reese are the only two players on the current roster who do it. None of the other players do it regularly. True, it doesn't require a lot of skill but it does require some balls. As far as I am concerned, as long as Hornqvist is willing to continue to do this he is earning his paycheck. The moment he stops then yes, I will agree with you.
ZAR may do it, but it really isn't anywhere near as effective as Horny. Horny is absolutely the best player in the league at what he does, which is basically cause a comotion in front of the net without the puck and then "bulldoging" the puck into the net. Does he have alot of skill meh not a lot, but he is irreplaceable with anyother player in the league in the other respects. I actually think he is quite under-rated.

Marc Staal? No. Marc Staal is NOT overrated. He is overpaid. There is a big difference. I'll go back to what I said about Dan Girardi in your Overrated Atlantic Players article - if you're going to call a player "overrated," there should be an overall consensus that the given player is considered to be pretty good, when he actually is not. Marc Staal does not fit this category. Early in his career? You could make the argument that he was somewhat overrated. Now? No. The consensus from pretty anyone who seriously follows hockey is that Staal is just not that great of a defenseman. Therefore, it makes no sense to call him "overrated." There are a number of Rangers that would make more sense for this list than Staal. |

I don't understand how you can call a guy overrated that no one really talks about. His numbers have gone up each year but he is never going to be a high points guy. His good in his own end and isn't awful with the puck. That's exactly what they need from him.

That is where I disagree and call him overrated. In terms of zone exits, zone entries, and entry defense he is on par with DeKeyser who we all agree sucks. |

Hornquist is underrated, not overrated. He is an awesome player who is probably the most effective net front player in the league.

Ugh in what world does a 4th line player rack up 50-60 points. Even last season when he physically destroyed he put up 46 points. I agree hes overrated but 4th line is just ridiculous |

Victor Rask is a good pick, though I would submit Justin Faulk as more overrated. I'm not sure Rask is overly notable at all.
Faulk has a hell of a shot, and when he's going does a great job of controlling play in the offensive zone, but his defensive coverage and work effort leaves an awful lot to be desired. |

My point is how can you call someone overrated that isn't that highly rated by most people? I never see people on here saying he's amazing so calling him overrated doesn't make sense. |

In three of his last four years he's producing like a low level fourth liner at even-strength.

Clearly the game is only played at even strength. I bet they wish they had Connor Sheary instead. |
