From Toronto's newest blog:

Now I am not saying it will happen NOR am I advocating trading Simmonds, I am just asking if he did get traded then what would the Flyer fans expect in return?

Off-Limits:
Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, Rielly, Gardiner

Players Flyers DO NOT want:
Hyman, Brown, Marleau, Leivo, Ennis, Hainsey

Typical Leafs fan would say "Some turd prospect like Bracco and a 7th". Not happening.

Ok let's have some fun without fighting

What do YOU want in return for Simmonds?

So you are saying...

When Montreal trades Pacioretty to Florida, Trocheck will go back the other way and Simmonds will be traded to Montreal for Trocheck?

Don't you have a blog to write for the Kansas City Thundercats?

Neither player really makes me jump for joy though. Liljegren is a RH, but he still has a lot of developing to do. Kapanen would be a nice add, but I feel his ceiling is more bottom 6 and wouldn't expect him to be a scorer like his dad.
- Glak18

Kapanen is NHL ready now and has more upside than he has shown on the deep Toronto team, plus he could help our PK. Liljegren is insurance. He is almost as far along in development as Myers, and we really need a RHD top 4 guy to pan out. Two chances are better than one.

For Simmonds with one year left of his deal I'd be happy with either being part of a return. If Simmonds had another year left I'd be looking for more.

I'd prefer Andersson, but any 2 of the top 4 on that list would make think long and hard.

So long, so hard.

Giroux just had a career year with his first 100 point season, can he do it again sure, but the chances are not in his favor. Most likely his point totals will decrease, due to injury or some other reason. Doesn't mean he will play bad, just unlikely.
- Glak18

i predict Giroux will come in at around 80-85 points. Which is still spectacular in todays NHL.

You have to look at teams with pressing needs. Winnipeg has serious cap issues. Trouba at 5.5 in exchange for Simmer... just a thought...

That's been bandied about, but it's not gonna happen. And the Flyers would have to add fairly significantly.

A little surprised how many Leafs fans would love to add Simmonds, I hope that enthusiasm is shared with their front office too.

How does trading for Simmonds who needs to be re-signed to a new deal after this upcoming season help Winnipeg's serious cap issues?

Simmonds salary was just under $4M, Trouba is at $5.5. If you could sign Simmonds for around $4M again or anything under $5.5, that's a little more cap room. Every bit counts. How much do you think his new salary will be? I would like to keep Simmonds, but if his salary is $5.5 or more, trade him. Not that he's not worth it... But, not that kind of money for a 3 liner.

Yeah, but that's not going to happen. He's likely looking at make $6.5M minimum, and he's much older than Trouba. Trouba has 1 more year as a RFA.

For Simmonds, I want the 27th overall selection in next year draft, a future first rounder, and Jori Lehtera

Can't be, he hasn't called himself a martyr yet or taken personal offense to everything.

Although clearly, I’m thinking that is more the floor if healthy, it's not the PPG opinion that bother me. It is the lack of respect.

Who was the last guy to finish 2nd in league scoring and not be nominated for a single NHL award?

Hint: You have to go back 10 years.

Well the good news is I got the Leafs fans to offer:

1st (probably high 20s), Andreas Johnsson and Timashov. More value than Schenn without the cap space.

Now if I can just unload Gudas on them....

What award was Getzlaf nominated for in 13/14, and Stamkos in 12/13? I'm seriously asking, as I can't recall.

This is the Flyers, even if Giroux leads the league in scoring and eclipses the 100 point mark in back to back years...do you really think he will be mentioned with other top players?

JVR just signed for 5 years at 7M as a UFA. Why would Simmonds sign a deal for 4M?

I would hope for around 3-3.5M per. Depends how he performs this coming year.
