As it should be. This proves that all the horrible signings, lack of deals and handing out picks like candy comes from benning trying to get the team in the playoffs with no plan at all.

He is a joke just like the owner.

You canโ€™t let personal emotions get in the way of making good business decisions. FA is doing just that. He is an egomaniac and wants success right now, but itโ€™s not good for the long term success of this team. Proof is the last 3 years. He needs to hire someone that he trusts and let them do the job of rebuilding this team. TL was over his head and FA stopped having trust after TL and JB first season.

So after they won the Pacific division and had a 102 point team?

Thats what happens when you try to remain competitive and drive the team in to the ground..

The prospect pool should be twice as good but they didnt want to rebuild thus delaying any chance of being in the playoffs.

News for ya...
Cup runs & MG ran it into the ground.
This is the prolonged result.

Itโ€™s funny how if you disagree with someone you are hysterical

I was only pushing his buttons.
Hysteria is reserved for Maury ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m cool with the detractors or those who want to see results but going off the deep end is irrational. Sorry

Benning thinks that they wont hire a president as he is going to be director of hockey operations cant imagine him being the person doing the meet and greets with the corporate sponsors and inspiring anyone to open the pocketbooks( based upon his media samples). We might just see a business executive with no specific nhl lineage but experience in sports entertainment....a suit.

For this season iโ€™d be very happy seeing EP play & AG come into camp rockin & rollin. Make the team or not the kids got jam. Lind to for that matter. OJ i want to see him make the team but sent down til a trade happens when. Palmu & Gads i want to see ppl take notice & a season in Utica performing great. Other prospects continue to grow & let the chips fall. Demko is on his own curve.

Expect FA to lighten that load a bit. A pres will happen in due time. A suit would be fine ๐Ÿ‘

Gillis said SFA after he got fired, probably a confidentiality agreement.

I'm guessing we can expect the same from TL.๐Ÿ’ฉ

The #Canucks plan remains the same, say Travis Green and Jim Benning.

Draft well, develop prospects and, when they are ready, make room for them in the lineup.

Meanwhile over on TSN there is a tire fire of rookies on for the next 48 hours

I'm a bit late to this party...but the only real conclusion I can draw is that Linden and FA disagreed on strategy & priorities, and Linden was fired in a genteel way.

I've read reports saying TL wanted to go faster into a full rebuild and also that he wanted to try to push to make the playoffs. All speculation, from what I can see.

As a few posters have commented, we'll get a much better understand of which direction FA wants to go when we see what unfolds this fall...though the real story will probably start to leak out over the next week or two.

The thought of JB doing 50-60 speaking engagements a year to promote the team seems would be a horrendous fail. A new prez, or FA filling that role (like him or not), is necessary.

I would have less respect if what was said behind closed doors was made public. What happens in Vegas

scary speculation by Farhan Lalji. Ownership: "a couple of moves to plug some spots, the team might have been able to contend for a playoff spot this year"

I believe they will be better this year...in terms of excitement and optimism. But I don't see them as being contenders for a playoff spot!

I think there will be a new president announced within 2 weeks.

I am not sure how much slower a rebuild people are expecting . We have been at it years and still are nowhere near .

I have no idea whose decisions it was not to trade vets at TDL or move vets years ago when they had value but that stalled the rebuild . A lot of decisions have been the wrong decision over the last years so I don't mind seeing him go at all.

That is blogger Daniel Wagner again. He really is not in any loop . He is no different than anyone here writing what they think. Just like Ian Esplen offering his thoughts

I've found the team to be inept at communicating their strategy, which makes it hard for fans to "buy in". Saying younger & faster, then signing vets for bottom 6 roles is contradictory, IMO. A lot of that is on TL, as the front man.

I'd be happy to see the team have a new prez, though I don't know who that would be (please not Pronger). I cringe when ever JB speaks to the media.

There are two people that know exactly what happened and they are not telling anyone what happened . So for me it is business as usual.

Canucks replace Dorsett who retired with Roussel . Dowd with Schaller and instead of selling off assets to find a second line center , promoted Sutter. So Beagle steps into Sutters old job .There are multiple spots open for the best forwards . I really don't see a problem.

We all pin this on JB but it was Travis that went up to JB and specifically requested these players. This is the guy who for 82 games says who suits up to play his style that he wants to play.

I just hope if the kids outplay the vets , that they WILL put guys like Hutton,Granlund and Gagner on the waiver wire and eat their contracts in the minors if no one claims them. Thats where i can see FA interferring.

I think Aquillini wants the kids to play well because they will sell tickets not Eriksson.
