Hahaha... how many people on here have pounded away on the narrative that Trevor Linden is just a yesman to FA and all that horse poop.... this place overflows with this nonsense... as usual... these fools are wrong... a product of not being able to think for yourself. |

Isn't that why he is fired because he said "no"? |

We heard rumours last year that someone in management was thinking about stepping down and most came to the conclusion it was JB. Maybe it was Linden. - manvanfan
I'd heard a year ago Linden wanted to resign
pretty sure someone posted that here as well |

But they won the cup, who cares about the rest. I would happily give up Hughes, Elias, Dahlen, Horvat, Boeser if it won us the cup. - Retinalz
Yeah, I wouldn't, Hughes is going to be the Bobby Orr, Pettersson will win rookie of the year, Horvat is the next Captain and Boeser the next Gretzky |

The blame I put on Linden was sticking around as long as he did, the first time he was told no by FA he should have been out the door. - A_SteamingLombardi
Linden was under contract. He cant walk off the job because of the first order he doesn't like.

Probably, I just remember most thinking it was JB.

Bertuzzi’s puck handling was also miles better, people who make that comparison aren’t paying attention. - Nucker101

Yup only to be bounced after loosing 4 straight in the first round..
I now have a new found hatred of Aquilini. - Makita
Fierce hatred.
I'm glad for Linden that he has escaped the dumpster fire.
This f*cking team does nothing but raise your hopes, briefly for the most part, only to crush any glimmer of faith.
Can't wait for Seattle to join the league. |

They did keep a lot of their draft picks. I was just stating that Lombardi made an insane amount of trades for players that never helped them win the cup except for Carter, Richards, Williams. Otherwise they could of still had a lot of those players and would probably still be contending. |

That definitely would have been the way to go for sure. They said they wanted them in a winning culture, well stack Utica with young talent and there you go!
The guys you mention are types that should be playing NHL and learning so when the young guns come up (Pettersson notwithstanding) they can be the mentors.
Also what about Mark Hunter? He’d be awesome to bring in as he can scout and probably be better at judging a modern team. Is he on the outs with the Leafs? - fubtastik
Hunter is a UFA - parted ways when he didn't get the GM job.
His scouting/drafting skills at the NHL level have been vastly over-rated. |

It was posted last year about Linden . It seems like it was a divided management for about 1 1/2 years now. Benning and Linden didn't show up at the same pressers and other stuff.
I don't see this as a big deal IMO. If anything they now have one direction |

Aquilini is an absolute boob but I'm not buying the 'poor Trevor the martyr to the mission' narrative many in the Van media are pumping. I think it is likely true he recently has pushed for a more patient approach, but he also approved the Eriksson contract, Gudbranson trade and those crap deals last year. And his messaging has been horrible, either dim-witted (which I doubt) or dissembling (more likely the case). It is good for him that he is out of there, but he should not have been in there in the first place. He took it as a vanity project. He's responsible for this mess of the past 4 years too, maybe not the most recent FA signings, but a lot of crap has piled up in the outhouse under his watch.
I've said it before. I loved Linden as a player and he seems like a good guy. Nothing personal, but he did a crap job as President of this team (let's not forget who really wanted to hire and retain WD after all).
Good luck to Trev, and here's hoping they did put someone with real upper level mgmt experience in charge. |

Is that the direction, fans will like? It sounded like TL wanted the rebuild. |

I don't know where the team veered off the direction of the rebuild . Nothing has changed from last week except the guy who was being ignored quit. |

I am not going to join the horde that is panicking the loss of Linden.TL was unable to do what he wanted to do so change was made. Aquillini is a successful businessman ,regardless of anyones opinion of him. i doubt he thinks fans are idiots ( do not think i am saying he cares about us ), he is arrogant and has control issues, who knows? FA knows that ticket sales, merch sales and cable package sales will be hit if he tries to field crap designed to barely make the playoffs and implode. Canucks fans expect a run, not just to make the playoffs and be done . Selling off youth for aged vets buys you a year or two at most then a copy of what has happened the last 3 years repeats itself. FA will squeeze every ounce of profit he can out of us naturally and that is maximized or minimized by the product he puts out, like any other business ,whether its doughnuts or hockey.

It's possible but turned on the radio today and first thing I heard was Aquaman man saying we are hiring a new president and Benning saying I'm the president now.
