Jake is part of your 30 club, not your 1 club
- LeftCoaster

Jake's a fine player for your 3rd line. Probably a #7 forward who could move up in a pinch, but the odds he's going to be the super late bloomer are exceedingly low. Enormous bust and he needs to be treated in the same way people are treating Goldobin and the other Almost Players littering the roster.

How many jobs have you quit due to that philosophy?
- Brooks_Light

Apples and oranges, when you're already a multi million it's a lot easier to choose your own path than when you're making 100k a year supporting a family and paying mortgages.

He's a bottom six guy with some upside, but I agree, his skills are limited to where he'll contribute but he'll never be a soft hands kinda guy. It's just not in him.

I've been self employed for the last 30 years because of that philosophy.

Wait, I quit a paper route.

Not really - maybe red delicious to granny smith. But no one walks into a new job of that prestige going to their boss "did you just say NO to me? (frank) you I'm out"
that's absurd

I am too but sometimes you have to make compromises, adjustments and simply do things you might not agree with for a number of reasons, whether its long or short terms goals/success.

We heard rumours last year that someone in management was thinking about stepping down and most came to the conclusion it was JB. Maybe it was Linden.

Pat LaFontaine did it in Buffalo, I did it at Suncor, I spent three months in their terrible work environment when I walked into the General managers office with my resignation letter and told him, politely, why I'm no longer interested in working there.

Part of me hopes they, ownership, fails for a long time, as they seem content on cutting off their nose to spite their face trying to win and compete before they're ready.

Although I'm of the opinion Linden wasn't qualified to be President of Hockey Operations it must have been extremely frustrating to work with/for a control-freak.

A couple years ago my buddy calls me and doesn't say "hey" or anything, just says "Your hockey teams owner is a (frank)en Richard"

Said he just finished a round of golf with him and he was an bumhole the entire round.

the stories around town about FA and his brothers are absurd. I want to get that rich.

legit surprised there hasn't been some #MeToo thing about them but I assume they've got the money to keep quiet anyone who would speak

Donna's insider Botchford...

.@botchford: Look at the Jets. Scheifele was drafted in '11 & they're just becoming a good team. And they hit, home runned on almost every 1st pick since. And they're just a team now that can win a Cup. That's how long it can take. And I'm not sure (Aquilinis) want to hear that

I’ve enjoyed reading Carols blogs for the last few years and was a season ticket holder before moving to victoria last month. Thought I would start chiming in now I have more time on my hands!!! Long time listener first time caller sort of thing so.... Hello!!!

Bertuzzi was a monster. I saw the ‘03 Canucks at 8 Rink’s while I was still playing rugby but transitioning to beer league hockey and he was the only guy I was impressed with in terms of size. That includes Brian Allen who was supposed to be big but was a beanpole. I think Jakes going to be most like a Chris Kreider type guy. So let him run goalies. 3rd line probably.

I have a friend who is a Jets fan and I always thought that they were taking things too slow and not doing much and now look at that team! I think that’s the way to go for the Canucks.

Love Trevor Linden and still think he was the greatest Canuck. I tried to start a chant “Follow Linden” in his last playoff series as the guy was still an animal of heart and soul!

My thoughts and Thanks Carol. We’re super lucky to have her. She’s great!

Hearing Dean Lombardi is a serious contender for open job in VAN. We’ll see where it goes.

See above, do you remember when Bertuzzi was drafted, do you also remember how many years it took Bertuzzi to become the player he was...years and Virtanen is on that same trajectory path, how's that for a comparison
- Makita

Bertuzzi put up almost 40 points as a rookie though?

Benning was on the radio and said, without being asked, if a young player earns a spot then they are on the team. He said he wouldn’t hesitate to put a vet in Utica. Goodbye Gagner

I don't know any billionaires. I know a couple multi-millionaires, they aren't all that bad.

I'll believe it when I see it. They said this in previous years too. Boeser started last year in the press box. Stecher in the AHL. Both should have played, neither did because useless veterans were in the way.
