To be fair, unless I've missed a lot of posts and if so I apologise, fans don't seem too enthusiastic in trading Nylander/ Marner for Tanev. I Think, from what I've seen, all Leafs fans have said Tanev could help them when healthy, they're just reluctant to move Nylander/Marner or a 1st for him.

You mistake a couple of the locals being civil to you as being the majority. Over the course of the thread you have shown that your methodology is sanctimonious smug and sugar coated .We dont buy what your selling, we dont care about the leafs, and anyone who follows your posts is not in the least fooled by some amateur passive/aggressive mind games.

I hope they dont trade Tanev, i think he is more valuable to us mentoring guys like Hughes, Juolevi and Rathbone in future. For what you can get for him compared to what he can do helping the kids, he seems more valuable here.

Mentoring is a myth. The vets want to play even when it’s obvious their time has passed.

I cant see any home runs happening. I think we grossly overvalue the vets we have and the handful that are worth much are more valuable to us than rolling the dice on middling picks. Im hopeful that Gaudette shows enough to can maybe free up Sutter for a deadline deal, but our youth is the only value we have and only FA and/or JB seems to think were playoff bound anytime soon.

Well, maybe Tanev can get a season where he ups his value then and can prove he is more durable than brittle. Right now his value is low

The only thing Tanev can teach the new guys is how to get around on crutches.

Last 5 years hes missed a minimum of a dozen games per season . Hes appreciated but hes still missing a lot of time. If i remember right he said he was going to revisit how he blocks shots so maybe thats his issue. I value his talent , he just has either a conditioning issue or needs to adapt his style of play

Especially with him being right side. A lot of raw rookies coming up on the left side so he can cover up for them.

Conditioning? Thats a reach.
How does one not take a slapshot to the face? Change their style & not get a fractured leg? Those are real curiosities.

Could it be he’s cheap & faces too much TOI in every key situation? Deployment not the issue? Do teams with a better D corp which doesn’t take much rely on 1 D as much?

Tanev is a defensive D a coach wants.
Doughty EK don’t sacrifice as much blocking shots. Russell makes a living off it. Want less injuries then coaches demand less of players blocking shots. Torts you listening.

I dont mean conditioning as in a Hutton situation. Players adapt their conditioning and change their training all the time.Sedins, Chelios, Suter, have at times talked about it,maybe he needs to do some changes. I would be interested to see what he was missing time from to such a degree over the years, Was lower body ( knee, ankle, groin) or upper body ? He does get too much thrown at him for sure but they have little torelieve that for now.

Doughty is one of the few dmen in the league that is better defensively than Tanev. Blocking shots is overrated, old school and doesn't fit as well in today's game.

I agree his conditioning is a non-issue. Blocking shots he does a lot and could be effective still while reducing injury

LHD RHD
Hughes Woo
Utunen Brassard
Rathbone Chatfield
Gunnarsson
Juolevi
Brisebois
Sautner
McEnemy
Tryamkin?

Realize that RHD are a little harder to find. Unless they feel they are set on Tanev and Gudbranson, Stecher for the next little while.

**no those players aren't in any order**
