I am looking forward to the freak out level when we put up Eriksson or Beagel as the exposed forward .

I’d be shocked if we get a UFA
- Nighthawk

They have signed someone pretty much every year since 1990, I would be shocked if they didnt add more depth.

Also, how's this for a doozy. In 2005 they traded Brent Sopel for a 3rd round pick, and then 2 years later they re-acquired him for a 2nd round pick, who turned out to be Wayne Simmonds.

That was when you could be a .500 team and still make the playoffs.

Sometimes those things workout that way.
Onetime waiver wire pickup, Dale Weise, was turned into a pretty decent prospect in, Adam Gaudette.

because you have amateur, minor pro and European pro information, scouting and performance to base assumptions on like ever before?

those string beans can play and skate. something Stu Grimson and a lot of those guys couldn't do.

the players have never been better. they actually work out now and know what a bar bell is. they have speciality coaches and things like Gary Roberts camp, Biosteel, that big LA training thing, Hockey Canda/USA Hockey, etc. available to them as pros and amateurs. Coaching has become teaching now when it used to be a lot more of yelling and line combos.

the floor of the players now is remarkable compared to where it used to be.

until a lot of the Russians/Eastern Europeans came over after the fall of USSR off season training and not just "skate a few times over the summer" was considered an insane notion.

training camp was legit used to get into game shape by players until the early-mid 90s.

there was no such thing as power skating or skills coaches or goaltending coaches the way there are now. most goalies in Linden's rookie season couldn't figure out how to stop a puck on the ice reliably yet.

don't be crazy.

Don't ring it or you have to buy a round for the house.

2019-20 is unique given it leads up to the e-draft & our roster is as full as needed given prospects are ready to push for spots.

As for history it solves nothing & matters nada to me. Its woulda coulda stuff that anyone can apply hindsight to. In the Canucks case poor ownerships has been the biggest problem. Management teams follow next. Drafting historically poor. Fans hot & cold to top it off. We have had some moments of good ownership & good management but not enough. Today we are better off with a prospect pool of talent. Tomorrow is yet to be written but worth the optimism.

Yeah, sometimes you win, but to pay more than you just received for the same thing...

It’s like owning a restaurant, selling a guy a steak, and then buying back the poop for more than you charged for the steak.

A .500 team still can. The way i look at loser points is a loss. OT or SO losses are losses that gets a team into the PO’s & thats all it does. It skews everything & is total bs in the end.

Even applying this, every team who made the playoffs had a better than .500 record, as did the teams that just missed. Then things drop off pretty rapidly.

There will be seasons thats not the case.
It would probably take a conference to dominate the other.

His trading has been hit and miss. Now that they have a good prospect pool, trading away picks for projects like Sven and Derrick shouldn't need to happen anymore.
- manvanfan

its not a great sign when one of your big wins as a GM in the trade department is bust prospect/mid pick for the types of guys who don't matter in the NHL

He has people inside organizations that he gets information from, most of what he says is legitimate.
- LeftCoaster

Bullpoop. He may be more credible than many in the biz but the nature of the biz is mostly bullpoop none the less and he's slipping in the credibility category quickly and not just over TL firing. He has been open about this market being the most active in social media and it's been clear as day how he's been exploiting it. Friedman has pigeon holed himself as a one trick pony. Most of what he says outside of rumour and speculation has been prepared for him or is his weak "human side" stories.... he's slipping and becoming slimy like the rest.

Everything revolves around drafting well, which I agree they've done well the past two years. The only disappointment is them not gettting more picks, it's amazing how one extra second round pick (such as 2017) can make the draft all that much better.

The Roussel signing is fine, the Beagle signing is hard to justify in my mind and I don't really know anything about the other kid.

- LeftCoaster

You don't think "they did well" drafting Boeser at 23rd? What does this kid have to do to get a break from you? Not exciting... doesnt get included in your list of legitimate NHLers picked by Benning. Isnt considered a good draft year with him being a late 1st home run in it. All season long you talked about the wall he was going to hit even though research shows that the college wall is a myth.... he hit a gate but with 5 weeks left...no wall yet... give the kid a break.

I hear the gov is looking for people to billet a few of those white helmet fellas. You in?
- bloatedmosquito

(frank)ing hell... they were just exposed in filming a big chemical attack false flag in Douma by the OPCW with all the forced patients in the film stepping forward saying they were in the hospital for non chemical attack reasons and... Israel evacuates them. All the other times the White Helmets got on the green buses with Al-Nusra(Al-Qaeda) and were moved out to other rebel held areas but this time Israel literally removes this particular group of them out of country. You don't have to look far for the source of the false flag attacks. Israel just downed a Syrian jet dropping bombs on ISIS the other day. They've come out and said they would rather ISIS and Al-Qaeda on their border...Meanwhile, our trusty media keeps talking about Assad's chemical attack... and protecting these Al-Nusra jihadists that are supported and coordinated by intel agencies. Credible journalists blow the whistle on this propaganda act. Award winners like Craig Murray, Glen Greenwald, Stephen F. Cohen, Chris Hedges, and many more including journalists who have been in Syria for most of the war like Vanessa Beezley... America's mainstream news is just pure bullpoop... worse than ever.
