We have plenty to spare - VANTEL
I believe Vegas was debating trading us a draft pick as compensation for not taking either of the players we exposed.

I like the last 2 drafts
I like the UFA signings this year
I like the cap situation
I like the new prospects coming on Canucks this year.
And most of all I like that this might be the last year I have to watch Eriksson
I have nothing to complain about for the first time in years so I will let you guys enjoy the hatred I have enjoyed for years and years.
 - VANTEL
And the 2nd year for TG will help. |

The "fire JB" circle jerk is only a few months away at most.
Then we can hear about how even though Benning needs to be fired, it's still FA's, TL's and MG's fault.
Who needs one opinion when you can have them all? - RealityChecker
MG’s legacy is pretty much gone. I tend to bring him up too often but its JB’s team now & truth be known FA get out of the way. |

Yeah, like I just said, maybe the 2nd round pick isn’t the one you deal, but later in the draft there there is a lot of variation. - 1970vintage
If we don’t trade for 1sts or 2nds the 3rd round & on are project type players that have a fault but upside that can be used. We did did swap a 6th for 2-6ths. Draft lists mean next to nothing on if Madden is picked in the 3rd. Nobody knows other teams lists & why would it matter. Unearthing gems in late rounds is a crap shoot & the time to have more picks acquired on the cheap. In the end many players don’t even get an ELC. |

Wtf? You literally specifically referenced our third round pick so of course I assumed you were talking about Madden? You are going in circles instead of admitting you were wrong about Maddens ranking. Mackenzie’s list is much more reliable. Real NHL scouts versus a bunch of college kids that pretend they know hockey. Would I have been mad? No, I had no idea who Madden was. But Brackett did and he is a big believer in the kid so he should make the pick! - CanuckDon
Judd liked his motor & I for one take that any day. Self driven players top my list. Bo for example. The Sedins were famous for it. AG is the same & any other player doing so will get noticed. |

Its been JBs team for about 2 years. The only leftovers on the team were actually good players.
And for all the poop MG gets, players he signed that got traded actually pulled returns. JB hasn't managed to sign and flip anything of consequence in 4 years. |

are Goldobin & Leipsic waiver exempt? oh feck, does anyone want our scraps?
Can you send one of the new ufa signings to Utica? nobody will claim them, we overpaid left and right.
I see some competition but see it coming down to the vets being given slack for a non standout training camp. how much can a young player wow to get a spot over an established player? - hillbillydeluxe
In training camp a kid has to standout like a born superstar. In preseason games do everything right on every shift. In Utica be a star & looks like its too easy. |

I wouldn’t be surprised if they waive Gagner and make room for Goldobin. I don’t think waivers should be a concern as A) Schaller is still injured and B) it’s pretty uncommon for a team to want a bottom feeders scraps. I suspect Gaunce is exposed but who cares - CanuckDon
Yes Gagner is on the bubble. I think TG likes Gaunce & Gaunce has been a hard worker & improved his skating & is not a liability. Hard to say how he fits in without spots in the line-up for him. 4th liner so Schaller is who he battles. |

Each team would have their own rankings & if a player is ranked at 68 and is available when you pick, then you take that player.
It is called Best Player Available.
It is not based on some mainstream media rankings. - Reubenkincade
BPA at 68 means holes in his game but can they fix them then they pick him. That goes for the 4th on down. |

Know what's crazy?
There is only about 15-20 players from the 2015 draft right now that have a better scoring rate then Baertschi's 93 points in 194 games so far with the Canucks.

I thought he already did reinvent himself... I genuinely do like him and think he is better than his stats show. Like you said he is smart and IMO already is very effective defensively.
He scored legit goals last year too!
That said the signings this year don't leave any room for him IMO. Hopefully he gets picked up by a team that gives him a shot. - belcherbd
Gaunce is cheap & steady & has good value. He stays or is traded only if the offer is good or is packaged. Nothing is to gain unless the offer is a no brainer.

Shink traded was a win
Drafting trading & UFA’s are what JB mentioned to build a team. Drafting he’s done ok to good. Trading is solid. UFA’s a weakness. |

His trading has been hit and miss. Now that they have a good prospect pool, trading away picks for projects like Sven and Derrick shouldn't need to happen anymore. |

Trading is always hit & miss for every GM.
Solid is not giving up much for what is gottten. Sven wasn’t a project. Pouliot was a cheap risk. Picks are overrated & no guarantee of success. |

I think they have a set team for the next three years and when a player is ready they know who they can take out and replace

Now that we have prospects closer to ready it does stop the need for other moves eg UFA’s. Trading is gonna always be explored. |

I would be shocked if we spent more than 1 mil in free agency next year.
