It's definitely up there, but I would hope that it drops next year with several of them graduating from prospect status - WhiteLie
I hope they are also replaced with some very respectable ones. Probably not one with the special type of talent like EP and Hughes because at some point, Van won't be drafting that high again. Find some prospects like Boeser's quality later in the first's |

I didn’t say anything about public opinion. I said the GM would look bad to the owner (paying a guy $6m to play in the AHL for 4 more years), and the team would look bad to potential players, who do not want to play in the AHL, even if they are being paid $6m. - 1970vintage
You mean like what the Rangers have done with Brendan Smith? I am sure no free agent will ever sign with the Rangers ever again. |

I think FA is. From what I have read he wonders why Vancouver cant be like Vegas and surprise, and that likely means finding a William Karlsson somewhere in his bottom 6 to have a miraculous 40-goal breakout - WhiteLie

Gaunce - belcherbd
Gaunce should reinvent himself. He is what he is offensively at this point so he should really embrace the defensive side of the game. If he could mix in a couple fights and some scrums he could really build his brand. He skates well enough to play in the league and he is a smart player but he is just so damn bland.
Edit. Gaunce would have to look no further than coach Green as a great example of a player that reinvented himself part way through his career. #mentor |

I thought he already did reinvent himself... I genuinely do like him and think he is better than his stats show. Like you said he is smart and IMO already is very effective defensively.
He scored legit goals last year too!
That said the signings this year don't leave any room for him IMO. Hopefully he gets picked up by a team that gives him a shot. |

I want more heated debate on fringe NHLers please.
Any topic will do as long as it’s not about TL. |

The way the game is going, you need to be able to score at a little better rate then he has to stay. Even if you are a 4th line player. |

I think Gaunce would be a good fit in Tampa Toronto even Pittsburgh. A dependable defensive player that can kill penalties, forecheck and still pretty young, what do you think of Gaunce? |

Did you just compare New York to Vancouver as destinations?
Also, yeah, I guess a bit like that, and Redden before him. Smith does have an opportunity to come to camp ready this year and make a better impression though. If Vancouver is a market where they already have to over pay, and then you add on a risk of getting paid to play in the minors. |

Gaunce will score more goals than Beagle this season. |

maybe not worried. scraps was used.
there is a little emotional response to the risk of losing anything when you don't have much to begin with.
and have to remember context. bottom feeder scraps, aren't worth much to the majority of the league. and even if you do lose someone, maybe it only turns out to be another Corrado.
regardless, expecting the usual hysteria after young stars and will contribute my share. - hillbillydeluxe
If there is a team circling around waiting anxiously for our scraps then God bless their souls they need them more than we do. |

Do they still do room mates on the road? They should put Gaunce with Rousel to help him become more of a pest. |

The scoring is going to come from guys who haven't played an entire season in the NHL yet. |

that's a great idea. Rousel seems like a dude that would make anyone around him angry. Gaunce needs to play with some fire |

So who are we expecting Seattle to take from us in the next expansion draft? |

Gaunce loves Harry Potter and is a Gnome in his little D&D group.
he has to show something or be part of a calder run. |
