What’s that? My rage meter is a little low this morning, could use a boost. Or is this the same Lombardi thing as yeaterday? |

He has people inside organizations that he gets information from, most of what he says is legitimate. |

They all do, the legitimacy of their information is what separates Friedman from Bro Jake. Some have connections within the executive offices, others talk to the guy that gets everyone coffee. Hint, the guy who gets the coffee actually knows what’s going on in Vancouver |

I like the last 2 drafts
I like the UFA signings this year
I like the cap situation
I like the new prospects coming on Canucks this year.
And most of all I like that this might be the last year I have to watch Eriksson
I have nothing to complain about for the first time in years so I will let you guys enjoy the hatred I have enjoyed for years and years.

You're just stoked to be president, bear in mind you'll be locked to the curb as soon as you say no to one of FA advances. |

Yes yes, but what is the rumor you were referring to that was supposed to make everyone mad?
For the record, I’m not mad about Linden getting fired. He’s one of my favorite Canucks ever, but he was not the right guy for this particular job. His dismissal doesn’t change anything for me as far as my impression of Benning, I still don’t like the FA signings, I don’t like the cap position, I’m not happy with the draft (or the previous ones). Not because I don’t like some of the picks, but because there weren’t enough of them, and when there was opportunity to move down and get an extra pick, I feel like they still could have gotten their guy, and another their guy. |

Everything revolves around drafting well, which I agree they've done well the past two years. The only disappointment is them not gettting more picks, it's amazing how one extra second round pick (such as 2017) can make the draft all that much better.
The Roussel signing is fine, the Beagle signing is hard to justify in my mind and I don't really know anything about the other kid. |

Based on what? The video that came out last week had terrible trade down offers — I’m glad they didn’t. |

When the team is set in the next 3-5 seasons Benning will get his apologies around here...take it to the bank.

When you take a guy in the third round that you could have had in the fourth round, or fifth, or sixth... they had guys on their board that no other team would have taken, why not get two of them? |

The "fire JB" circle jerk is only a few months away at most.
Then we can hear about how even though Benning needs to be fired, it's still FA's, TL's and MG's fault.
Who needs one opinion when you can have them all? |

Despite the press conference being an obvious damage control attempt I thought their were some interesting comments from both Benning and Green.
Specifically Benning went all in and made it clear he will waive or trade vets. This message has been inferred before but never been this strongly stated IMO. I tend to believe this means, they are already penciling in some young players.
When asked how the offence was going to be replaced, Liepsic and Goldobin were specifically mentioned which also makes me think they are not going to be willing to lose either on waivers.
Finally it was pointed out that there were 14 forwards and the question was asked if moves were going to be made. Green's ignored the question and made it clear he sees many more than 14 forwards who will be vying for those 12-13 spots.
I still think Benning is an idiot, that Linden is a legend but didn't belong in mgmt and that FA is a twat but can appreciate he never has hesitated to spend money on this team. I have hope that this year's camp will be a very competitive environment where the best 23 players end up on the team.

It's not that simple, there's things that could've been done to create a shorter path to success, therein lies the problem for most Benning naysayers.
Edmonton's one of the worst run franchises in the league and they still produced a 100+ point season two years ago. If you're bad long enough, you can't help but get better simply through drafting high.
- Trying to compete for the owner when you have no business doing so.
- Not acquiring more draft picks.
- Wasting draft picks on project players.
- Poor trades wasting assets like Forsling, McCann & a 2nd for Clendenning and Gudbranson.
- Etc. |

I'm generally pessimistic, it allows me to be right more often than wrong ,
but I do think we see a Vet or two moved/ waived.

Aquaman has a history of approving buyouts, retained salary and burying contracts so as much as I don't think Benning will want to have to take a loss on a bad contract that gets waived, he has a convenient fall guy in Linden now.

What’s BS, that they might have been able to pick the same players they did later in the draft? Or that they had guys on their list that other teams didn’t? |
