The owner and coach today said our plan is the same we will continue to draft and develop , but everyone believes Pratt and Botch that Canucks are trying to shortcut it. The owner said yesterday rebuilding takes time but everyone jumps on board with Tony G

Benning and Green told every player on exit interviews you better change your habits and come back a lot better or you won't be a Canuck. They reaffirmed today and yesterday that if there are players better than you they will take your spot. Benning even said today he does not have a problem trading a vet or waiving if they are not playing to expectations but the fan base will listen to Pass It To Bullis and JD Burke that everything is going to hell

The team has tried to walk their talk before and tripped over their dick into a faceplant in a pile of poop.

Actions speak louder than words. If it was the other way around these guys would be atop the division and conference.

No....because for every Trevor Linden that can step in and score 30 goals as an 18 year old there's 200+ kids that need further development.
- LeftCoaster

Yes but if you don't provide the opportunity how do you know who's ready for it and who is Not? The league is so watered down and soft as compared to when Trevor came in... Not alot of Bob proberts Stu grimsons and Donald Brashears patrolling the ice anymore. Just a bunch of 6 ft sonething 190 pound string beans

because you have amateur, minor pro and European pro information, scouting and performance to base assumptions on like ever before?

those string beans can play and skate. something Stu Grimson and a lot of those guys couldn't do.

the players have never been better. they actually work out now and know what a bar bell is. they have speciality coaches and things like Gary Roberts camp, Biosteel, that big LA training thing, Hockey Canda/USA Hockey, etc. available to them as pros and amateurs. Coaching has become teaching now when it used to be a lot more of yelling and line combos.

the floor of the players now is remarkable compared to where it used to be.

until a lot of the Russians/Eastern Europeans came over after the fall of USSR off season training and not just "skate a few times over the summer" was considered an insane notion.

training camp was legit used to get into game shape by players until the early-mid 90s.

there was no such thing as power skating or skills coaches or goaltending coaches the way there are now. most goalies in Linden's rookie season couldn't figure out how to stop a puck on the ice reliably yet.

don't be crazy.

I was meaning Green will pick who plays, until FA says, I want Gaudette or Juolevi or Lind.

FA doesn't give a flying (frank) who plays, just get into the playoffs sooner than later or "you're fired"
- LeftCoaster

Make your mind up. Bennings hands are tied by a greedy owner or this is JB's idiot mess. Flippedy floppedy (frank)...

This is a problem for Canuck fans as we're in for a long rough road if they start trading picks and prospects to be more competitive right now. They tried it a few times already and failed miserably.

It's not about Linden quitting, it's about the aftermath of what's about to happen. Or what "I" think is gonna happen.

- LeftCoaster

You mean Linden fired???

FA himself couldn't keep the story straight and he's the puppet master.

team: we've amicably parted ways

FA: something something asked Trevor to step down. poop... wait i didn't mean to hit send on that tweet. i meant something something we just decided to part ways. Trevor totally didn't quit or get fired. Nope.

Oh come on... Lefty has a new narrative to shove down our throats... let him play with it.

You are right. This team didn't suddenly take a nose dive because Linden was fired. People want changes in the office... people like Lefty. Now it's a sign that this team is trading away picks and prospects because Linden was the wall preventing it? Nonsense.... for feck sake.

Maybe some of the moves we don't like are pissing FA off as well and he's holding people accountable. As usual, the real story will lay in the middle somewhere... the less you listen to the media... the more rational you look at it.

Linden wanted to get draft picks by taking on bad contracts and burying them. FA didn't want to lose that money. That would have sped up the rebuild. TL wanted to retain massive salary on expiring contracts to maximize the return. FA nixed that because he's cheap avs it would cost him cash. Again this would have accelerated the rebuild but FA wants to make money while winning even if it slows down the rebuild. Trevor said (frank) that avs being said yes boss. I like being but I preferred trevors vision ..... even if it cost FA money.

Where the hell did you hear all this... which seems like a poop load of speculation? I mean, its written like you were witness to it all.

Yeah, this is what it sounds like when you are trying not to use the word fired.

the only people who don't see it as a firing are people who don't have the slightest grasp on business speak when businesses fire top executives but want to try to protect image/stakeholders/shareholders/etc.

Well, Rick Nash, Clayton Stoner and Kris Versteeg are all still available. I’m sure they would all marginally improve this team.
