So you would want a redo on the trade correct? You would rather have Schenn instead of jvr going into this year and take away 2 of the teams top 5 prospects for a playoff run with Schenn in the fold this past spring?
- Just5

Absolutely not. I never said I would want a redo on the trade.

What I’ve always said is, I felt like the deal was too soon and I felt like we would have been a better team with Schenn last season. We had drafted Patrick, Konecny is and did only get better. I stand by that we did miss Schenn. So much so that we signed JvR. Anyone here is free to dive into the differences Schenn and JvR as players but we added another player to help with the production lost by Schenn. Now the deal isn’t such a big deal to me. The deal could have happened last summer or this summer, no big deal because now the production is now properly being replaced.

I feel bad for ROR. He had a good thing going in Buffalo, being so close to the border.

But now that he's in St. Louis, what's he supposed to crash his car into? A Dunkin Donuts? No way!

Okay...did I call Schenn a complimentary player? I just asked how you felt about the term.
- jmatchett383

It's not so much the term as it is the application of it.

I'm not sure why we can't just look at it as a deal that helped both teams. Hextall thought the return for a player of Schenn's caliber was too good to pass up with where the team was and St. Louis got a good player in return. Nothing more, nothing less.
We have to use terms such as not a driver of play, complimentary, and so on to knock Schenn down. The trade doesn't need to be justified like that. Schenn is a pretty good player and a much better player than many want to give credit for. I think the Flyers missed his production last season and is a reason why the Flyers wanted to add JVR. Hopefully we drafted two players who will turn out to be good players and lengthen the Flyers window if and when they get there as a team.

Here we go again with the victim complex. You're not a martyr. You didn't die for some cause. You're not this noble poster who is defending the honor of some group of people. Grow up dude. People here are sick of your shtick
- bulet13

Keep throwing words into my mouth...

So what’s your cause? Are you standing up for the greater good because the people here are sick of having their feelings hurt? I’m not stuck here with you. If you come here, you are stuck here with me, my thoughts and my opinions. I’m here today and I’ll be here everyday after today.

If Schenn was a condiment what would he be?

Because he's clearly not bread/meat material.

I say relish.

So Hagg’s only advantage to signing the qualifying offer this year is that he would be eligible for salary arbitration next year?

Pretty much. Also, if he sees himself involving by leaps and bounds this year, he gets to cash in one year earlier.

That’s having your cake and eating it. The offer was on the table last summer. There’s no guarantee whatsoever any offers this summer would have matched it. The flyers also had frost targeted when making the deal for reasons we all found about over the course of the year. They made the deal and it turned out to be even better than they could have imagined with the blues surprising down year and frost’s hug year. I think people would like to move on.
