I hate to say this, but I wonder if Columbus would take Kessel and a pick/prospect for Panarin. Kind of makes sense for both clubs. - Glak18
Thanks to his limited NMC, Kessel has a list of eight teams he can be traded to.
You think Columbus is on that list? |

Best you read what I said before you cum. Hart is the future. As far as the rest of your comments I strongly disagree. You are not telling the whole story, what about Lehtera, was he just added for nothing? Your prospects are just that and have no bearing on the current Flyers. You are certainly not at my level but you can always come back with garbage off the top of your head or wherever. - joegreif17
I should hope not, as even my dogs crap is well above your level.
I am fine with Lehtera. He is filling a lower line role, and will be gone after this year.
So you disagree about the Flyers having a top ranked prospect system? All the experts on TSN, Sportsnet, etc agree that the Flyers have the top rated prospect system in the NHL. You can say they are just prospects, that's fine, but they are high level prospects, and considered for the most part to be locks for the NHL. Hextall is preaching patience, and he wants to develop the young guys properly, and not rush them. That doesn't make guys like Frost a bust. It means the Flyers are making sure they are ready for the big show.
Also, if you are really from Campbell River, please stop. You are an embarrassment to the rest of us Islanders. |

they have layers of prospects at every position, yeah, not every prospect will make it, that is why top system have the layers of talent. Five first round picks last 3 years....

Actually, it's 6 picks in the last 4 years. Rubstov was a solo first round pick. Had Provey and TK, then Rubstov, then Patrick, Frost and finally, Farabee and O'Brien. Provey and TK jumped right to the NHL after their D+1 years and Patrick skipped both JR years. 3 of the 6 skipped Jr years. Nice drafting job

Still not awake, yeah, 7 the Provey, TK draft sort of defined Hexy's style. Think Sanhiem is Hexy first pick, isn't he? 4 picks over the last 5 years in the NHL. |

I think Konecny is amazing but I would trade him straight up for Panarin in a heartbeat. Panarin is young and would need to be locked up for 5 plus years before I would do it. Whoever gets Panarin will be a much better team. - joegreif17
No way in hell would i do that without a new contract in hand. |

however broken down Hex gets it, he knew he needed picks, he did a good job with getting 1st round picks and pretty much had double digit picks going into every draft.
Getting 2 firsts in the Schenn trade was important because they should be good NHL players but also important because of the way Hextall has gone about building the farm system. Those 2 picks don't just stand on their own, they are a part of the 30 plus picks Hex has made. In Vegas this would be considered helping the odds.
Just Hextall's way, the Pens do it different, either way sticking to the plan for any GM is very important.
I read a Rangers article the other day, it went over the Rangers rebuild and the teams in the Metro today, then it covered what the Metro would look like in 3 years when the Rangers rebuild was further along.
The writer said the Flyers had the best farm system in the league. that within 3 years the Flyers would be a juggernaut for years to come |

He says he won't re-sign with Columbus, and I heard Columbus hasn't yet given their approval for any talks with others, as they still hope to change his mind. Maybe Bill knows more as to the validity of all that.
They definitely won't get any where near full value in return without first allowing such talks. - Ratsreign
Please document where he said that.
The only thing he has said is that he does not want to talk about a new contract after the start of training camp. While it may be likely he will not play in Columbus after the upcoming season and many people think that, nobody knows that for sure, not even him. |

Considering the stats he has put up in his first three seasons, he can definitely be considered at least a borderline superstar.
But it does make one wonder why Chicago and Columbus didn't want to keep him around.

He's nearly a PPG player over his NHL career, which puts him at the superstar level.
Chicago had massive cap issues with the Toews/Kane contracts and Panarin (and Hjalmarsson) were the easiest to move who would bring cap relief. Saad didn't live up to expectations, but he wasn't "nothing" either.
But yes, the fact that both Chicago and Columbus didn't lock him up long-term ASAP is a bit of a red flag. But you can't deny his on-ice production. |

Saad and Panarin had the same cap hit.

I've read in more than one place that- a few weeks ago he said he's not going to sign an extension with CBJ "at this time". Then soon after, CBJ travels to France to meet with him, he was still not interested in signing "at this time". Then it's reported, as you boldly stated, that he won't negotiate after training camp begins. Idk, CBJ has been fruitlessly trying to sign him this summer, and now he imposes a deadline on any negotiations. It seems that either his mind is pretty set on at least testing the FA market, or any CBJ offers have just been way too low for him.
Hence while I said in my original comment that maybe Bill (meltzer) would know more as to the validity of all that I've read.....
