They definitely did and no one is taking that from them, they earned it. But the minute Toews took 10.5 mil per year contract he had to know that winning cups was over. Was his Bridge deal 6mil? That's right about where he belongs salary wise.

I think RW is spot on with the assessment of Toews. I still like him as a player and I remember some of those playoff games where he was tremendous. Never on the same level as true superstars, but that shouldn't take away from his accomplishments. Salary wise....yikes. When you're over-paying a guy by 4 to 5 mil....that's gonna sting.

We have a CGY office and they all love Toews. They give no love for 87.

Overrated and overpaid are not one in the same.

Typically, to become overpaid someone has to be overrated by at least some people, if not by many. The Parise contract is the worst contract in the league (and that is really saying something) and he is very overrated by many people and teams. Suter isn't far behind. The Wild may overrate rate them more than most (hence the offering of such ridiculous contracts) but others overrate them as well. The media certainly does - every time NBC does a game PeeAir McGuire gushes over Parise, even if he is invisible on the ice.

I definitely agree with Ryan's assessments for this division.

Messier tops the ALL TIME list of most overrated. Solid player, no doubt. But not the all-time great that his aggregated stats would suggest. Scored 50 goals only once. And should have retired at least four or five years sooner than he did
