I haven’t had a drink since June 28th. Just taking a month off after a particularly heavy May/June.
Anyway, soda water (we have one of those soda stream thingys) with flavored bitters. Rhubarb, peach, mint, grapefruit. You can get them at the private liquor stores. So good. |

I like to try Ron Francis for pres.
Canadian boy in a big market.
HOF career & experience. GM & Exec VP.
Maybe the most underated 2-way star ever.
His character i really like & speaks well.
IMO would mesh well with JB & TG.
Has a good pool of F’s here to start with.
Did good for the Canes getting D.
Just some thoughts - Nighthawk
no qualifications. experienced at failure. but he's a HOF player so obviously he knows how to run a team. |

Perhaps when Linden said that next season the team would be very young, and fast (speed/skill) yadda yadda he really believed it. And then July 1 came along and he was like WTF? This isn’t what we talked about!
Also, for those commenting that he was unqualified and over his head, that is probably true, but that’s on the guy who hired him. If they offered me that job I would jump on. I’d go down in history as the pooptiest President in the history of the NHL, but I would love every moment - 1970vintage

So instead of having a discussion with me or responding to me, you cry about me in someone elses response. Alright nuck4.. i mean nighthawk. This room needs pom poms to counter my disgruntled views i guess. I look forward to your pre season line ups bud. Keep on keeping on buddy - Codes1087

As a buffer between the GM and the owner. To be responsible for other facets of the business, like the farm team, etc. GM looks after things directly related to NHL team, Pres looks after that and more. - 1970vintage
I mean in Trevor's case I like to think he spent 4 years getting FA to let JB do his job.
I am worried about this whole difference in philosophy thing though. Trevor may have been more aligned with the fanbase which is worrying for our future moves now that he's gone. |

Or maybe he was against the moving of veterans like Edler and Tanev , Sutter etc . Maybe it's JB and aquaman that have bought in on the tear down rebuild and Linden was showing to much respect for the remaining country club members ! Seems plausible , coming from a former president of the NHL players association. |

Yes, that is a concern. If we trade Hutton for Hamhuis you know it's on. |

That's possible, but his talking points from the end of the season until July 1, when we stopped hearing from him, have been:
Team will be young
Team will make mistakes, but play a fast exciting brand of hockey
Team will be significantly under the cap - not looking to do much in free agency. |

This is crap
You take chances on guys like Butmistrov Weirchioch because if they turn out and they only costed you a million then you come out looking like a genius . Low risk high reward. Leafs are the master of trying to shop at the five and dime stores for a bargain and overpaying free agents that didn't turn out.
What is wrong with the Virtanen pick ? He has been improving every year and unlike your draft pick of the same year , ours may still be with us after two more years. - VANTEL
Are you serious?
No one but this team would have selected him at 6. Only cus he was local and they were hoping to sell tickets which is why they rushed him which probably ruined him. |

I would like to see Pronger come on board - VANTEL
I dont care who comes on board just finally start rebuilding for (frank) sakes. Get picks let benning draft and wait it out the next 3 or so years..
This is what happens when you dont rebuild when you should.. 5 years turns into 8 or 9.
No ones fault but FA. |

hes just a rich arrogant ignorant bumhole. he thinks he can make short cuts and magically get in the playoffs...
well you know what (frank) the playoffs and (frank) this team they are a joke..
for years ive been saying (frank) the playoffs aim to build another contender which takes years of actually rebuilding and anyone who thinks different is a dumb (frank) by that I mean FA and benning who is either just along for a pay cheque or so (frank)ing stupid that he should be work at a shoe store with al bundy |

Yeah I always thought it was TL preaching the slow approach so I'm quite thrown with these indications (Friedman had a particularly good take on it). |

and with all this "playoff" talk versus "championship" talk its like they just want to be Columbus or Minnesota or St Louis.
Get those 2 home playoff gates in the pocket first, try to be actually good if you're lucky. |

Its great right now. Linden's dishing scoops to his TSN pals and maybe a few insights to someone like Friedman.
Aquaman has the SN guys in full spin mode basically saying this was the plan all along and also Benning made all the good moves and Linden the bad ones. |
