Pronger has spent a few years now with NHL Committees and in management

Truthfully what do we need a president of hockey operations for?

That's bull .

First off I don't mind you chiming in at all but you fired the first shot asking why do they sign bad UFAs and draft Jake . I am pointing out your team was in the sh1tter for a decade leading the way in bad signings and bad management. This success that you are having is just very recent so for me taking rebuild advice from a Leaf fan is on par with getting financial advice from a wino on skid row

- VANTEL

I don't understand why you wouldn't take rebuild advice from a fan of a specific team. I am not, nor have ever been employed by the Leafs.

You think that only fans of teams that have won a cup can see how a team should be built? We should only listen to Caps fans? That's absurd. Don't see how a person's favourite or 2nd favourite tram should factor in at all.

It's like saying not 1 Nucks fan can explain how to build a team to make the playoffs in a 31 team league. It's ludicrous.

I just hope whoever is hired has no past connection to this team in any way.

I'm kind of hoping they hire one of the guys that serves beer.

He’s prone to thinking & not knowing.
Watch out for words put into your mouth.
Cue the UFA list of nobodies not helping us but yet held up our tanking...

So instead of having a discussion with me or responding to me, you cry about me in someone elses response. Alright nuck4.. i mean nighthawk. This room needs pom poms to counter my disgruntled views i guess. I look forward to your pre season line ups bud. Keep on keeping on buddy

Lefty is the only Canuck fan that should be giving rebuild advice. If you don't believe me and you have 2 hours to spare he will tell you.

Ok I’ll take a shot at this...

Quantity of picks didn’t get quality.
More picks eats up more contracts.
Never proven that cups are won.
Looking around the league Elite talent has won cups. A good coach goes a long ways.
Talent in key positions is every teams goal.
It takes years of drafting developing.
No D no cup unless superstars get it done.
Lucking out on generational players helps.

The position is overrated & analyzed.
Pres hires & delegates mostly.
Business side there is a team behind the scenes.

Point 1 I agree with, but the more shots you have at draft picks, the better chances of drafting a player that can help you (assuming your scouting staff is up to task)
Point 2 isn't necessarily true if you don't sign them to ELCs right away (eventually they will have to of course)
Point 3 I don't understand
Points 4 - 8 I agree with

You jumped into the convo. You go on about nobodies as UFA’s not I. You make it sound like epic set backs. I’ll engage in the present when you like to. As for line-ups i post them when i see something i like or want to see. I build lines with duos & search for the 3rd wheel to make it gel. Babcock style is my style. Balance & depth is at the root of all my ideas. Trades wise i want the logjams on wing & D dealt with. Sooner or later i’m good as long as it happens.

Pronger's a piece of poop who has accomplished nothing post career, at least Trevor is a nice guy.

There has been talk of Bob Nicolson in the past but I'm not sure he would leave the Oilers, I hope they bring in someone like that.

point 1 hockey is hard to project kids & yes maybe get lucky but most often its rare.

point 2 just generalizing

point 3 cups are won by Elite talent & surrounding them. Goalie tops that list.

Would it kill this group to bring in someone with experience?

I like to try Ron Francis for pres.
Canadian boy in a big market.
HOF career & experience. GM & Exec VP.
Maybe the most underated 2-way star ever.
His character i really like & speaks well.
IMO would mesh well with JB & TG.
Has a good pool of F’s here to start with.
Did good for the Canes getting D.

Just some thoughts

That’s impossible. Literally everyone involved in the hockey world has either suited up for the Canucks, or holds some dubious record playing against them, sometimes both.

Perhaps when Linden said that next season the team would be very young, and fast (speed/skill) yadda yadda he really believed it. And then July 1 came along and he was like WTF? This isn’t what we talked about!

Also, for those commenting that he was unqualified and over his head, that is probably true, but that’s on the guy who hired him. If they offered me that job I would jump on. I’d go down in history as the pooptiest President in the history of the NHL, but I would love every moment

As a buffer between the GM and the owner. To be responsible for other facets of the business, like the farm team, etc. GM looks after things directly related to NHL team, Pres looks after that and more.
