The only point here that is stupid is that Miller playing because of an injured starter some how invalidates the fact that he filled in for the starter and actually played well. You know, doing what a back-up is suppose to (frank)ing do.

Or someone wanting to get rid of goalies under contract that the team has spent 7 years developing because they didn't win a starter role at 21. The same one that just had one of the best seasons the AHL has seen, but clearly doesn't deserve at least a chance to win a backup job. Still have to go prove himself in the minors.

He's shown himself to be the best at his position in the minors, so clearly we should get rid of him rather than seeing if he can be successful playing a few games in the NHL, since he didn't manage to break into the league at 20-21. Cause goalies always do that if they are going to be decent NHLers, just ask Tim Thomas.

Jason LaBarbera was a helluva AHL goalie too. Not so great in the NHL though.

Outliers are fun but there's only one Tim Thomas. If the hope here is that Sparks is Tim Thomas, keep praying. I hope he turns out to be Tim Thomas too but the odds of that are slim to none.

The Leafs need a solid, experienced back-up who can play 25-30 games in case Andersen gets hurt and to keep him fresh for the playoffs. Sparks is a gamble at the NHL level. The other options are more proven as NHL goalies, they're more known quantities. If they were rebuilding, it would be one thing but they're not in that situation anymore.
