Well at least Hoskins is on a tear. If they can get Happ and Granderson from the Jays without giving up one of their top 5 prospects it would really help.

And franco is too. Now he does this basically every year makes us think he's finally made it before falling back into mediocrity. Everyone says a bat but I dont think that's necessarily true I'd just want more bench depth dont need a moustakas especially at a steep cost. Give me a pitcher or 2 instead.

I refuse to believe that's the name of a real player on the Phillies and not the lead character of an early aughts Judd Apatow movie starring one of the Wilson brothers.

Listening to Bill asking Hextall about the Simmonds situation has me a little concerned. I think Simmonds is a key forward and type of player that the Flyers need to help win playoff rounds and ultimately the cup.

A lot of people on here and a lot of Flyers fans don't want to pay out a player like Simmonds who's 29 years old with a long term contract.

Lettings Simmonds walk would be a disaster IMO. I know some of you are thinking move him at TTD and maximize your assets.

Simmonds is one of the best players in the league around the net, great along the boards, a leader and our toughest player. Yes we would miss him. He’s also an all situations player in terms of special teams.

Agree....and not quite sure why few seem to be entertaining the idea that we can still sign him for a short run and then trade him for assets once we see some of our power forwards ready to make the jump.

I do get not wanting to spend anywhere from $5-6MM per on a third liner, but he does provide a lot of on ice toughness, leadership and can move up and down the lineup as needed.

I could easily see a pathway to a scenario where we resign him and in 2-3 seasons move him to a cup contender (preferably out west) for a significant asset or draft picks.

Also Ghost at 4.5 million > Karlsson at 10 million or so. Moving Ghost and Patrick for Karlsson would be asinine.

So its asinine to pay double for a player that is twice as talented? Not in my book. But you are right the Flyers do need to sign another top 4 defenseman, preferably a veteran.

No Thankyou. That is a step backwards. It is like the Flyers pre Hexy. Big deals for older vets for young talent.

Trading up, and losing a liability. The team would go from a 1st round exit to competing for the title for as long as his deal was for.

Your missing something else that is involved there.

No reason for the Flyers to go out and sign a veteran top 4 defenseman. If there was, Hextalll would've done so. He's smarter than that.

Two things, Gostisbehere is not a liability.

Secondly, adding Karlsson does not elevate the Flyers to become a legitimate Cup contender.
