Van gave up a first and a third or second for Guddy . - VANTEL
Late 1st prospect, 2nd and 4th for Guddy and 5th.
Flames have given up 9oa and 12oa |

Just reading about how much of an absolute steal Trouba is for the Jets according to Burke.
A lot of jets fans I know, freaking out his play in the regular season and playoffs. - manvanfan
Vancouver only really started drafting well when Brackett came in . It will take a couple of years . We need to let our prospects now develop.
I don't care if we finish bottom 10 |

Flames are a bad team in a lot of trouble that is why I think we will pass them this year or next.
They have gone from Johnny Hockey to Johnny Hangover to Johnny Pisstank and meanwhile given up a few firsts and seconds |

I know it will take years. I've been saying that for years. I don't know if drafting well, specifically it has to do with Brackett. He was added but I remember JB had also given different instructions on what he wanted from the scouts and switched a lot of scouts. A group effort but led by Brackett.
I'd like to see improvement. |

Any day fishing, good or bad, is better than most regular days 👍🏻 - LeftCoaster
Yes indeed.
The closures make it a little more difficult now. Dfo out in numbers, etc.
Time for a seal and sea lion cull to up the salmon numbers. |

Benning's comments on the draft shows he puts a lot of trust in Brackett and looked to him for answers but Benning did also nix him when he wanted a goalie in the third round

I don't doubt that Benning leans on Brackett. That's Bracketts job. It starts at the bottom and it moves up the ranks and players get filtered out. |

I think they work well together and that video of Benning at the draft was nice, knowing that he doesn't just let his scouts do all the work but asks for their input. |

Come on you guys
Honestly, Vancouver has some real good young talent... and I don't like the Leafs goaltending much either.
Maybe I got a little carried away with the WC thing, but I don't see the Canucks in nearly the same boat as Montreal and Ottawa. Buffalo has some good young talent, so maybe that is a good comparison going forward? - Aetherial
That's because they are worse. |

I have been impressed with the last two drafts. I think a lot of things are starting to come in place and now it is a matter of time.
I expect finishing 8-10 from the bottom so no high expectations. Young players are now sheltered and prospects will develop. |

I think the Neal deal will look bad in a couple of years and I didn’t love the Hamilton-Hanifin trade either but their roster looks decent if 1 of Brodie or Hamonic can rebound.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Neal
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik
Czarnik- Ryan - Brouwer
Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Andersson - Stone
Smith
Pretty decent roster, but I don’t like Peters as their coach. Bennett not developing into a legit top 6 forward has kinda (frank)ed them over though, they need to make some playoff noise in the next 2-3 years or Treiliving giving away picks like candy is gonna end up being a wasteland they’ll be in no-man’s land. |

Their top ranked goalie still being on the board in the 3rd round was pretty interesting |

I don't understand the Lindholm love . He played in a very bad division with talented line mates and score 16 goals 44 pts . Yahoo

I think he’s overrated too, but he’s riding shotgun on that line. He’ll set a new career high just because of those 2 if he sticks on that line.
Neal is a better offensive player but it makes more sense to spread out the offense a bit.
Hanifin is also soft as hell defensively, curious to see how he works with Hamonic. |

A total team effort to get the job done.
The rankings this year were all over the place. The draft was even more all over the place. Teams are doing much more drafting for position then BPA.
Burke said he didn't think Woo was a good pick at 37. Didn't hate it but didn't like it.
Someone in the comments posted this:
Among players available at 37, CA had
Akil Thomas at 15, 51st
Ryan McLeod at 19 40th
Calen Addison at 23 53rd
David Gustaffson at 27 60th
Jake Wise 28 69th
Bode Wilde 29 41st
Cole Fonstad at 31. 128st
Jett Woo at 32. 37th
The only person they got close on to what NHL teams thought was Woo. In bold where they actually went in the draft. |
