Two potential top ten pick busts JV and 18 year old Sam Bennett....who gets more points this year ?

At first I’m thinking Bennett is the easy pick ....but he might get buried in the depth charts and JV might finally get free reign to just play a regular shift not on the 4th line ....I think JV could pull it off maybe ...

If I was making the lines, I’d have JV top 6. I have a feeling he’ll be relegated to the bottom 6 though.

Can we get back to talking about how bad the Flames will be?
- VANTEL

So you think Ferland, Stajan and Versteeg/Stewart are better than Neal, Lindholm, Ryan?

the real questions is are you going with the logical answer or the blind hate one?

It doesn't matter what I answer people will assume it is blind hate anyways.

All this love for Lindholm is mind boggling. His best NHL year is 16 goals.

Derek Ryan similar numbers. Lets wait until he plays a year against a much bigger west division.

Both players played on a very offensive minded team and Calgary are a team with problems.

I think Ferland / Neal will be a wash point wise

I think he will do great ...he will score 20+ no matter where he plays and if he clicks on the top line he could score 30+
- Redmile247

I think Neal will get 20 as well...but I still think the Flames will struggle to get to the WC spot.

Ys you have addressed depth scoring a bit but you did get weaker on D losing Hamilton and getting rid of Ferkland after his best season lol.

Lindholm is ok but reports out of CAR suggest he disappears for half seasons at a time.

I love Hanafin and his number are trending up but again...unproven.

Can Smith handle the load? That's a tough one.

It's actually hard to tell if the Flames got better in the off-season...time will tell but James Neal will help.

Honestly, I don't know if they will end up with a better record bcus it seems anything can happen these days - Vegas in the Cup final, Colorado and New Jersey both making the playoffs - But i think we can all agree on paper they got better. Goaltending always seems to sink or swim Calgary. Losing Hamilton sucks but Hannifin is a nice fill in, plus, Andersson, Valimaki, Kylingotn are about to step up.

Lindholm has been pretty consistent the last 4 years on a terrible Carolina team. Ferlands first breakout season is washed out by Ryan's. To me, comparing Neal to Ferland is laughable - Neals been a 20 goal scorer for the last 1o years.
Gaudreau, Monahan, Neal
Frolic, Backlind, Tkachuk is a pretty lethal top 2
Bennett, Ryan, Lindhom is a much improved 3rd line

and Jankowski was their 4th line centre scored 17 goals last year, our combined 4 players had 9 goals....I hate Calgary too but you're just not being realistic.

Calgary are not on my radar at all. The only reason I discuss them is because Red comes in here all the time and tells us how ugly the Canucks are and I look at their dog of a team and answer back brrrrrrrrrrrr.

Their lethal second line line of Backlund and Tkachuk were outscored last year by our two 38 year old retirees. When you start throwing names like Backlund Ryan and Lindholm and tell me how good they are when the top guy has 16 goals I think of Baertschi. Sorry man .

Lindholm and Ryan did indeed play on a bad team but they played in a sh1t conference also which padded the numbers IMO.

Every year Red comes in here and claims how much better they are than us and yet every year we are in striking distance.

Now you know why I wanted our bottom 6 changed. No argument there. We will be much better this year.

This is a similar comparable and really all my point is....Beagle, Rousell and Shaller is an improvement on Dowd, Gaunce, Archibald the same way Neal, Ryan, Lindholm is an improvement on Ferland, Stajan, Versteeg

Play him top 6 all year ...let him put up 40 points and be -47...who cares ...keep his confidence in scoring up and let him learn to be better defensively eventually

Ferland played with Johnny and monny .....hell Guance could score 15 with them as line mates

Now I do defend Ferland on here for being better than a 4th liner who runs guys as he has skill and a great shot ....but when he isn’t on a top line he is not much more than a 10g 20 point guy in reality

As long as smith doesn’t get hurt the backups were pretty good ...give them more starts and save smith ...once he got hurt and the kids had to handle the load they buckled
