Is he going to play 82 games as an Oiler and have zero growing pains

Sometimes I think people just assume every high end rookie will just come in and be effective

Someone must have noticed before me.
The best part of that link is Vey top 5 in scoring in KHL. Gusev is a good one. Believe LV got him from TBY in an expansion draft trade.

What's the deal, you lose an avatar bet with Alfieisking, or whatever his name is.

BTW, it's not just Vantel, everyone hates the leafs and the constant verbal diarrhea from the TSN, Sportsnet wankers. Toronto sucks, Babcock is overrated...yada, yada

#NHLJets settle with Brandon Tanev and sign the RFA to a 1 year deal at an AAV of $1.15M.

I know you are only reporting, but it's not an average when its only one year...

Benning: Those guys we've signed, they're fast. Roussel is fast. And they're big. Tim Schaller is 6'2, 220. Beagle is 6'3". They're big, strong guys. We've had a lot injuries the past few years, and we've thought maybe we're not big enough up front.

- VANTEL

Isn't Schaller injured right now?

Another genius in the making. He will probably be right on the money, but I think some in here will call him an idiot.

Can't it be both?

I like JD's stuff more often than not, but he does have a tendancy to beat the preverbial dead horse.

So what did the oil do to make you think they will be better ?
- Redmile247

If McJesus plays the full 82 he should be at 120 pts. Nuge looked real good last year when healthy. McJesus and Drai are just too good to be kept down for too long. I think Chia will address the D needs. If Talbot plays 55 games or less that will help him. Chia just needs to add a few ingredients around McJesus and they'll be there IMO.

Solidarity with a Leafs poster who lost a bet against a Sens fan He didn;t welch on the bet, so I changed mine too. Since I didnt lose the actual bet, I am sure I will get bored and change it back. He has to wait until the end of next season

The Leafs fan stuff is way overblown (although I can't disagree with the supposedly "national" media bias). The truth is, a lot of it IS actually people who are bitter, stirring up crap.

You either listen and ignore this endless crap from pretty much every fanbase (the option that *should* be taken) or you respond back... and then lose anyway because it just perpetuates the narrative. Some people also just have a lot of trolling pay-back to dish out, now that the Leafs organization is finally not the laughing stock of the league

Yes, which means there is room for one of this fanbases golden children that suck at hockey. Gaunce, Goldobin, Leipsic etc

Yes he does, as do most critical of the Canucks.

I personally think he will be pretty close to being correct with his prediction. I was spot on the last two years, and I'm going with bottom 5 finish.

I think Humongous has it right, 20th or 21st overall. ... since your fanbase made me back off my feeling that they might squeak into the playoffs.

Yeah, it's funny that the same group always get upset at the people who predict the team to be a bottom feeder, yet that prediction has been spot on during the last 3 years

Which fans don’t think the Canucks are a bottom feeder? Maybe onesmalleap? They stink. But predicting them to finish below OTT confirms one is on bath salts

You say this, but every year the optimism starts to ramp up a bit during camp, pre-season and when this team has gotten off to semi-decent starts in October.

I definitely remember it during the start of last year and the 16/17 season as well, some people seemed confident that this was not a bottom feeder after the decent start.

Again, not every fan, but there's been a decent amount(not just on this site), that fell for the hype of a surprise start during the first few games of the year. They weren't saying playoffs, but there were mentions of this team being competitive.

I guess they didn’t ...but I don’t think dressing 5D regularly would be a real option for them

New blog!

Thoughts on how Beagle and Roussel's voices will fit into the Canucks' locker room with the Sedins gone this fall, plus Quinn Hughes and World Junior Showcase notes.
