Of all the things posted on this board, I cant stand when people bring up that the Buffalo Bills were tanking last year.

Although the owner has proven it in the past with his other sports franchise. I just do NOT want to believe it.
So I will not put any thought into it and argue that it isn't possible.

All signs pointed to John Tavares staying with the Islanders, but ultimately he chose to go to a contender. The Islanders weren’t that, even with Tavares in the fold and now they’re even farther away without his services.

That was just the tipping point for the Islanders woes in what has been a truly disastrous offseason. The team already had major forward depth concerns – now exacerbated by the departure of their number one centre – and “solved” those issues with not one, not two, but three negative value additions in Valtteri Filppula, Leo Komarov, and Matt Martin. Those three will cost a combined $8.25 million next season and are projected to deliver minus-0.6 wins in the process.

To top things off, the Islanders also lost steady defenseman Calvin de Haan, a player whose absence was very much felt in the team’s disappointing second half. At least the team solved their goaltending crisis though by signing… [checks notes] a goalie who wasn’t good enough for last year’s worst team. Yikes.

The Islanders offseason is definitely in a league of its own.

Was looking into that a few days back actually. Under the current CBA there aren't a lot of sticking points. The draftees get a pretty set scale for their pay and bonuses are set for the most part. It's either "offset language" that's being discussed or bonus terms such as when they are paid out.

Will be interesting to find out which, but from what I understand, it wasn't the dollar amount ultimately as this is predetermined for the most part.

The Bill's got a few bounces, rare calls (Atlanta game) from the officials and a unbelievable amount of turnovers on defense.

Culture changes are upon us. Too bad the team is a year or two behind the Bills mindset. Captain, and I use that term loosely (losely?) Negativity was a locker room divider. We don't need that poop. And hence, he's gone, for a number of reasons. I think it was mentioned earlier today or yesterday, how Berglund is a fantastic human being. We need talented veterans to lead the way on the ice, but we also need guys that can help unify a locker room, not divide it.

One of the player interviews mentioned that after the trades of Watkins and Darby, they had a mindset that 'forced them' to come together and play harder for one another, because of the perceived talent loss, they can't rely on individuals to carry the load.

Jagr 5 years ago would be awesome for this particular team. I'd take Cammy for a year, but we'd need to drop a few contracts. Having him on a PTO at training camp would be smart. Nice little backup option for Smith, Nylander and Thompson.

You get rid of Larsson, I wouldn't hate a 1 year Vermette contract.

I played that card. We have a totally cool cat, but I hate cats. So it got out, I didn't care, next thing you know I'm sleeping on the deck. Best night of sleep I had in weeks.
