That's true. We assume he's out of whatever bonus he may have received in the NFL. |

He will once they start having empty unpaid seats which you happen this year in january once they are clearly out of the playoffs - Fredobbface
This is Montreal. People buy their tickets before the season starts regardless of how they think the team is going to be. |

it was never true. if the team is mediocre with an outside chance of chasing a playoff spot then yes people will line up. but knowing that this season is going to be a wreck, and without any young exciting players to come see, there will be empty seats this year. maybe not in October when the delusional are still holding out but definitely by November when they're 16 points out of a wild card. |

I don't think it will be that bad cause people had to renew early...and some were dreaming of big signing or a good trade. I think next year, after 2 years of terrible management and sucking, it will be a different story thought |

And the Weber injury news released in a faceless, cowardly and convenient fashion the day after the renewal deadline. Great new transparency!
But hey, who wants the new and improved pizza??
When will people wake up and stop supporting this ignorant nonsense? |

Trades are very difficult to get the missing pieces.
Offer sheets are not used.
Free agents don't want to come here, or at the least the god ones in their prime don't.
The best way to build a contender is by sucking and doing it through the draft see Toronto, Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA, etc.
We HAVE to suck for a few years to get a better on ice product and it will not be pleasant for a few years but hopefully after that we will have a few years of a decent team. We can continue to be a middle of the pack team and hope for the best or suffer for a few years.
Personally, I can live with sucking for a year or two and drafting some possibly elite players for the future.
So we can complain about the upcoming years or accept that this is how you build a team in the new NHL. |

I agree with you Braidan, but I think people would be even more on board with this if management came out and said it loud and clear that's what the plan is.... instead of all that "we don't rebuild, we're gonna reset" and "If Carey is better, we'll be fine" crap.

I hope it doesn't, maybe if the high revenue generating teams make less and the salary cap comes down for a change it will lead to changes in how the league operates.
This pains me to say, but the Toronto way is the way to go. They finally have a team that should contend for many years and be in the Stanley discussion every year. |
