I rag on JG a lot.. Because he has these colossal meltdowns. If it weren't for those i would consider him a top pairing Dman in the NHL. So i guess he is.

If he cost us less than 5 games a year due to these (frank)-ups id be fine with him.. But not game 7 up a goal in the third. That's a sign of not being very strong mentally, and some people are more prone to that.

To me, he's a conundrum.

Let's not pretend that Gards isnt know for his gaffs.. 99% of the time he's very reliable. But even at his best he's not on DD's level.

Nope. Perfectly logical reason. It's sports. Sports fans watch it to judge and evaluate their team. You can't point to some chart that shows his brutal giveaways.

That being said, ill bet his millions of dollars and thousands of adoring fans and friends probably more than balance things out.

I get what some are saying... I don't want to replace Gardiner with Luke Richardson... but replacing him (because he's an upcoming FA may make some sense if he can't be signed reasonably)... and if you were (hypothetically) to replace him with Dermott, and Dermott gets 30-35 pts (which I think is reasonable to assume) would it be that huge a loss?

the question really is what do you / can you get in return for Gardiner... the idea of throwing him away for nothing is absurd (completely agree on that).
