While I agree they still need to work on their D and most likely will internally, not having JVR and teh Bozek will probably help them in that situation. As with the previous game 7 against the Caps they couldn't be trusted to take a shift and only played 11 or 12 mins. They were bad defensively unfortunately. Their replacements (looking like Tavares and Kapanen/Johnsson) are better defensively so that should help a bit. It's not the whole solution but it should help balance the lines a bit.

I'd imagine they probably keep growing from within. That young Marlies team had some great performances in them.

Thing about Rob Ford was he was a good at his job. People are quick to ignore the fact that the guy was dying. Most people who know they are dying tend to spiral. Outside of his antics he was well liked by the community. Now electing his brother Doug for premier is a different story.

I have actually begun to follow politics north of the border because its unbearable here, so I was surprised that Doug was a political figure.

I don't know what to expect from Boston this year but they can't be riding Chara for that much longer. I do expect the Leafs to win that division and move to the conference finals but I don't think its going to be as easy as some fans think.

So they come up with reasons why they think they aren't.

Cope with what? The term contenders is meaningless. Did any Legit contenders win the cup last season? No and dont give me that bull poop that WSH was a contender. Most people here kept saying WSH was going to miss the playoffs because they lost Alzner, Schmidt, MoJo ect ect. I was one of the few that said they would still win the Metro. Contender is just a team that wins the paper Stanley cup. NHL standings are a parody. Any team can win any game against any opponent. That is what makes hockey a great sport. Even the bottom feeder teams can win games against these so called contenders. Not many but they do win some.

Vegas wasnt a contender either and they almost won the cup. I think Philly is a contender but that like I said means nothing because they could easily miss the playoffs as could any team.

Yeah, I know it's truly the same for all teams though. For every Aetherial and Derper and BluesunshinePants, I am sure there are Flyer fans that are just as delusional.
