It has nothing to do with UG or that Karlsson plays with LOLtawa. I don’t think Tampa should get Karlsson either for the same reason.

THEY DON’T (frank)ING NEED HIM!

Makes me laugh that some people feel the need to tell others that their opinion is wrong, when they are entitled to their own view and haven't asked to be corrected.

Some people act like we give a poop what they think.
Some people act like their opinions on HB are going to change Leaf management's course of action.

If the Leafs trade Nylander, a spot in the top-6 will be made available thus creating an opportunity to bring back Leafs legend... ...ROBBIE EARL!

It doesn't work like that. The arbitrator will only reward a 1 year contract if the player is set to become a UFA in next season.

Basically arbitration will not allow a team to buy a year of a players UFA.

If he wants out, he will be gone at the most 2 years.

Depending on what is rewarded, If I'm the Jets, I go for a 2 year deal and trade him. If he is awarded between 5 to 5.5, a team will pay big to get 2 years out of him at that cost before he demands huge money.

You think Trouba wants to bolt still? Got way more ice-time this year; wasn't that his main beef?

I believe icetime and lack of powerplay time were some of the issues.... I'm sure the Jets knowing success helps to keep him though. He got the icetime for sure... but big Buff is still on that first wave.

It's a nice problem to have.... but I understand how the young man belives his stats would be so much higher if he got to be the guy passing the puck to Laine on that one-timer.

Stats are not at the top of the list IMO.

1) Scheifele is signed to a very good LTC - very unlikely that Jets will want to pay more for Trouba than Scheifele
2) Wheeler is UFA next season Laine is RFA - both can expect big pay days if Jets want to keep them. If Jets bridge Laine - they will be playing with fire - Ego the size of Jupiter and will play it out if they (frank) him around.
3) Shovelsh!toff is a famous cheapskate, his hands will be trembling as if he has Parkinsons when Laine asks for $12 million a year, and Wheeler says he wants $11 X 8 at age 32

Ross is right, no need to panick, but Trouba will likely be gone at first opportunity.

With Myers contract coming to an end and Big buff getting older... I just don't see how they can afford to trade away their 23 year old first pair RHD.

And Laine has an ego? I know the guy is confident in himself but that doesn't tell the whole story on a man.

I also don't believe that because Scheifele signed a nice deal that it handcuffs the team to not give more money, if needed, to another player.

Not really. If Nylander and Gardiner sign for 6.5 million each, it's still more than Karlsson + ELC (Dermott / Kapanen). The Leafs have to spend money, it's just a matter of where and on what position. The forwards are strong enough as it is, the money should be shifted and spent on defense.

No trade would be made unless he agrees to an extension. Karlsson for 1 year doesn't make sense and isn't worth it. The assets being given up are quality but you have to give up quality to get it back.

I think he proved last year, despite everything he had to deal with, he can play at a very high level again. But again, if the doctors don't give it the green light, it's not worth it. But if they do, it should be a no brainer.

Exactly.

My main issue is that we shouldn't have to trade nylander for him. No one else is offering anyone else with the proven track record like he has. Dallas is possibly offering Heiskanen, who is a good prospect, but again he's only a prospect. Sergachev has 1 good year under his belt on a stacked team where he played sheltered minutes. Who says he can do it again in Ottawa as the #1 guy.

If the cost was liljegren + for him, then I say do it. We can figure out the cap later.

We're not going after Karlsson.

Also, please stop responding to this troll. Nothing good ever comes of it!
