I have to say, you probably won't believe this, but I believe this joke just gets funnier with time. |

See that's why he's underrated because when defensive players don't score, casual fans think they 'disappear.' - james_tanner1
He wasn't very good defensively in Tampa either. He had a tendency to float around and get caught away from the action.

"Anyways, I've liked almost every trade he's made, but last night's trade with the Blackhawks was stupid. That isn't a hyperbolic hot take. I've crunched the numbers. This trade is insanely bad for the Coyotes. "
"The Coyotes also got the older, slower, more expensive and much worse Richard Panik. "
"Anyways, this trade is total garbage. A dumb move by the worst team in the NHL. "

Panik is a 3rd or 4th liner on a good team. trouble is the Hawks put him on the 1st line and he performed for about 35 games pretty well then Toews stopped scoring. Panik couldn't hold the line together and at the crazy number Stanbo paid him he became a cap dump. DuClare was just an offset that stood about a 10% chance of being a NHL player so the Hawks took a flyer on him. They put him on the 1st line with Toews and when Toews didn't score, DuClare became expendable then got hurt. It was a cap dump and AZ got a player that looks good on the Yotes for now. IF the Yotes ever get better, he won't be part of that team, as 4th liners don't make that kind of money for long.
Tanner, you'll be eating crow when he's on waivers with a year or more on his deal.
Maybe he goes to the Leafs in a TDL deal, then you'll really be singing! |

When he's not in the lineup, the P.A. announcer plays Elvis Costello's Stepen out tonight.... |

It was only -2.2% relative to the team and his usage was pretty extreme. I don't usually care too much about usage, but he's on a team that was getting killed game in and game out and they basically only put him on the ice for defense. - james_tanner1
?????...how could be on a team GETTING KILLED GAME IN AND GAME OUT when the Coyotes are a collection of some of the best talent in the league, and their GM winning trades left, right and center....?????
Much of your "logic" ain't very logical Tanner!!!

Hahahahahahaaaa. THIS is just one of the many examples of the Tanner logic. So, NOW Panik is the GOD. Oh my......he is a walking, talking contradiction.... |

Exactly! Panik is underrated. And Duclair is one of my favorites. But it turns out Panik is a great player, especially seeing him up close. I don't really understand what you're doing here - helping me make my point that he's underrated? OR pointing out that I'm the type of guy who learns as he goes and isn't afraid to change his mind with new information? Either way, thanks for making me look good. |

Did you see what happened last season? They lost most of their first 20 games. Three of their better players combined to miss 150 games. |

I have no feelings one way or the other. When they were good, I would have told you they were good. But they are currently terrible and they keep giving away all their cheap and excellent guys to the Coyotes. - james_tanner1
No.
When they were good you told us the Ducks were going to absolutely destroy them in the Western Conference Final. Remember that one?

Ya! But Murphy doubled Hammer's Goal production! - camfor
Would any coach put Murphy out there against the opponent's best offencive line, in the PO, especially the final? Hell no. SB got fleeced on the Hammer deal. He saved $250k AAV & got 2 years longer term (4 vs 2) for an inferior player. And it is not even close. SB is the benefactor of a Smith, Dudley, Tallon built team. He made 3 schrewd deals at the 13 & 15 TDLs for Zus & Vermette; plus JO in 12 for a pair of 2's. As we move further away from the last title, we can see SB has not kept up with WPG, StL and NSH, all division teams. |
