Lets not pretend that Chaka is getting anything over on the Hawks! The Yotes are trading from a position of strength where-as the Hawks are trading from a negative position. The Yotes are one of only a hand full of teams with the cap-space to take on these "retired" salaries, And the only team that seems to be willing to do these trades at this time. I honestly thought it would have cost the Hawks more to unload Hossa's contract. - camfor
the hawks essentially gave up hjlmarrson, hinostroza, panik and osterle for murphy and some cap space.
bowman needs to stop trading with chayka. he keeps pissing away the little depth he has on that roster.

and what is bowman going to do with his cap space?
too risky to trade his 1st. he'll have to subtract from the roster to do anything with it. |

what about the Hjalmarsson trade....and the blackhawks saying it was about getting a younger defense group. so they trade away a 30yo dman whos one of the best in his own zone...amazing shot blocker... a guy who can you can play 20+min a night for a 25yo murphy who is no where close to the player of Hjalmarsson. and doesnt show the potential to be much more than what he is currently. hawks worst trade by far with the coyotes. hjalmarsson was getting underpaid by the hawks and murphy was getting overpaid by the coyotes.
the amazing thing is the coyotes didnt even have to give up any picks...which as odd when a trade happens before the draft starts. at least if they got murphy daulphin and a 2nd round pick it would seem maybe the hawks were getting something to build on. |

Amen to this. Chayka stole Hammer for a worse D on a longer term contract. Then he rid himself of DuClair for Panik which helped the Hawks with cap space but gave us the better player. With that space, the Hawks haven't signed anyone of note. The Hossa trade will take some time to gauge as Stan will either need to do something with his space and limited assets he has left or keep it for later in the year/next summer.
I have no ill feelings to the Hawks but it does seem that Chayka does have Stan's number and it's not close. That said, I would trade that number for any of the 3 cups in a heart beat. Though I did make a $100 wager with the biggest Hawks fan I know that the Coyotes would finish with more points this year than Chicago. I am feeling decent thus far about that bet... |

What's lost in all this is murphy was a stealth cap dump...that bowman paid a premium for. |

Yeah Bowman lost that one actually Bowman has lost alot of trades. Would have been better just getting draft picks and saving the cap space.
The Hossa trade I thought was good .
Hino good for a few games then no results for stretches. Osterele meh.
Hammer I would worry about injuries that guy has put in some tough minutes. Hope they all do good though especially Hammer very big part of the three cups. Panik usually wears out welcome after a year and half. I liked him on the Hawks but not at nearly 3 million |

Panik is a decent player who could play on any NHL roster. I never understood why the Leafs traded him for an ECHL player. - BestRapperAlive
I think it was cause he didn't make the team for whatever reason and they would have lost him through waivers. He's a decent NHL player but has yet to prove he's worth a long term deal, maybe this year. |

I wouldn't say he has his number, Hawks need to dump salary and the Yotes are one of the few teams who can afford to do it because #1 they need to reach the cap floor and #2 they have been content rebuilding through the draft so they dont need to manage salaries like other teams. Both teams get what they want. |

The Yotes have always been at the cap floor, none of these trades are for that. I don't know why people keep saying it, its not factual at all/. |

Cool, i stand corrected, but the point of the post was theyre not worrying about reaching the cap ceiling for a number of reasons. |

Sadly, because I live in AZ part of the year and go to several games, the Coyotes are not well managed Chayka is prolonging their rebuild. |

Happily, because I live in AZ the whole year go to more games, the Coyotes are well managed and Chayka will have them in the playoffs in 2 years. |
