I'm at work, so its a poopty day !
But really you can't be that confident with that Dcore ? not trolling, actually don't dislike the leafs, back in the days I was a big Sundin, Clark, domi, Roberts Fan...
Beside I just hate the Sens and the Bruns - Xizord
Nope, not that confident because of the Dcore. Actually for me, it is more about Andersen. I have never been a fan.
I just find the take from the Flyers fans hilarious. There is clearly a lot of angst. Hell, even their blogger can't help but troll.
I am not confident that they will win anything, even a playoff round. I still feel they are contenders though. I think it i stupid to suggest they aren't. I don't see anyone in the east who is head and shoulders above them, not even Tampa. The west is weaker than the east these days IMHO.

-Young Defensemen are more experienced.
-Young forwards like Lindblom, Patrick and Konecny are more experienced.(Especially -Konecny, his play improved significantly from start of last season to the end.
-No Manning
-No Fillpula
-Healthy Simmonds
-JVR - 36 goals only averaged like 15 mins on Toronto per game
-Healthy Nolan Patrick(Was affected by his hernia surgery for most of the season)
-No 10 game losing streak
Possible Bonus: Lehtera and Weise never dress for a game. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Yeah, too bad the Young Leafs players like Nylander Marner Matthews Johnsson Kapanen Dermott aren't another year more experienced.
Too bad the Leafs didn't add Tavares on top of that.
Somehow the Leafs went from 6th overall to "not contenders" and the Flyers became guaranteed playoffs.

With what Toronto has done and Boston being on the path to having another strong year, I don't get why Tampa wouldn't add Karlsson with Hedman. It's a match made in heaven and they would be cup favs |

Yeah lots have changed LOTS...Leafs make the playoffs for an astounding 2 years in a row....amazeballs. Having the best season in franchise history...congrats now you know how 20+ other teams feel like when they have those 3rd in division seasons.
I know you don't want to accept it, but you're on the same train CHOOO CHOOO. - Glak18
So to summarize:
Leafs are going to be a worse team this year than last year even though the landed the top UFA on the market, a legitimate franchise player.
Flyers are going to be awesome sauce this year because they signed the guy that the Leafs let go in order to sign a legitimate franchise player.
I like this, makes sense. |

My God, you leaf fans are more sensitive than a woman on her period. No one is saying Flyers are better than the Leafs. Leafs werent even mentioned. Holy, the universe doesnt revolve around the Leafs you know. All that was being said was some people thought the Flyers are a contender and its a fair point.
Hockey games arent won on paper. The fact is any team can become a non playoff team. Ottawa was a SC finalist before whatever happened last season. Flyers were expected to be around last place last season and Hurricanes were hyped to be in the playoffs. I'm open to the fact that anything can happen. |

It's not about being sensitive. There are posts on this blog praising the Flyers as legit contenders out there on par with the defending Cup champs and others saying the Leafs will be fighting for a wild card spot. I'm not upset about it, just trying to wrap up the derp in a nice summarizing bow. |

Let me put it this way...if the Flyers didn't sign JvR this offseason I would be saying the same thing. |

Apparently the Tavares signing is a sensitive subject in Leaves land.
So don't mention him & his ELEVEN MILLION $$$$$$$ contract. - Aussiepenguin
Some of us don't mind discussion, criticism, or dissenting opinions. I also think there could come a time when that contract hurts... on the other hand, it takes him to what, 35 or something... not like it take him to 40.
What is humorous is the last few weeks of just stupid takes. It is crystal clear that people can't stand that the Leafs are not the doormats of the league anymore. It is like a significant portion of their own self-worth is somehow tied up in the Leafs failure. The derp is ridiculous.
This thread is starting to resemble the Leafs vs. Sens thread. |

What I saw in the Leaves thread the other night was ridiculous & unprovoked. In my opinion Tavares isn't elite. That's my opinion, & it wasn't provokative comments I made as my discussion started on the difference between he & Matthews with the possibility of Matthews being paid the same.
Some of you don't, but I don't see you coming in & correcting à Leafs fan when they say stupid poop. Tavares generational?? That's very recent........ People (I would say most), probably don't care & may even be a little jealous of the team, but when comments are really just silly, it's going to provoke a negative opinion. Agreed there are stupid comments being made, but wow, it's not only non Leafs fans. |

Yeah, I'm sure this guy will be thrilled with JVR's 13 minutes a night (incl PP) and stretches of defensive indifference...I'm not throwing shade at JVR...was a great Leaf and Burke fleeced the Flyers on that deal. But hey, LOUD NOISES FIRST ROUND EXITS 1967 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. |

Speaking of deRps...
I love how one of the most dysfunctional franchises in NHL history finally draft a couple good players and sign a big name UFA, history obviously shows all UFA signings work out for the best, and before anything is proven the fans automatically tag them as the team to beat.
Yes, be excited for your team, but jump out of delusional land before claiming anything. Everyone gets it, the Leafs history is abysmal so any glimpse of slight success is huge, but it's not a big of a deal to the rest of the NHL. If Toronto starts dominating the NHL this coming year then yes they deserve to be mentioned with the elite. Until then they have done NOTHING...NOTHING. I don't care if your video game simulation had them win, prove it in reality first. |

How about Marincin for Simmonds? You can overpay him as a UFA too after he's done winning Cups in Toronto.
