Weal definitely seemed to struggle with line chemistry and rust when sitting out. He still looked like he should be a 3rd line option. Matter of fact, I think the best 3 of the 3rd liners are Lindblom, Raffle and Weal.
Is there any chance Lindblom could convert to center?

26 years is well done. I just hit 41 years. Divided almost evenly between two women. Haven't hit more than 22 in a row. đź‘Ť

I think Weal could be productive with better linemates. The problem with putting him on 3rd is that one of Simmonds or TK will be there with Lindblom. The only way I see Weal on 3rd (barring an injury) is if he somehow gets the 3C job over Laughton.

Personally I think it was embarrassing and a black eye for Hakstol that Weise was even reinserted into the lineup.

In the games leading up to his long stretch of healthy scratches, the dude flat out showed zero effort. It was a cardinal sin and one that should’ve kept him on the bench barring showing the coach something miraculous.

If Konecny is on the third line I'm driving to Vorhees on an off day and taking over all of the stuff.

I agree. It'll most likely be Simmonds. It won't be G or JvR, and I highly doubt it will be Jake.

Giroux-Couturier-Konency
JvR-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Laughton-Simmonds
Raffl-Lehtera-Weise
Leier

Top 6 is basically set until injury or some miracle during preseason. Only battles I see is Laughton holding onto the 3C and who gets scratched.

I would personally love to see a bottom 6 of:

Lindblom-Vorobyov-Simmonds
Raffl-Laughton-NAK/Weise

Box: Lehtera, Weise and Leier (sent up to LHV)

Re: Phantoms goalies.
Lehigh Valley COULD start with 3 goalies.
Or potentially one goalie is loaned to a different AHL club. Happens occasionally.
Andrew Hammond with Colorado played for Belleville Senators last year.
Jordan Binnington of St. Louis played for Providence Bruins.

Bill has mentioned that before in the past and if I remember correctly said something like "It could happen, but Hextall doesn't like the idea of loaning a player to competition".

TK should be top 6. I think Simmonds needs more time to come back to 100% from his injuries, but I don’t think he should be traded. I think he should be resigned and given a lighter load for this season. I see him on the 4th line and 2nd PP this year.
I am not sure if Flyers coaches are sold on Laughton at center. He is a excellent 4th liner even at LW.

Gagne had his share of health issues long before the 2010 playoffs and had an impressive start when he signed with LA. Gagne was a player counted out many times dating back to 2008 when he sat the majority of the season. I love Simon Gagne. We should have did better by him when he wanted to resign here in his second tint but we went with Vinny and kicked tires on Dan Cleary.

...I mean we were gonna sign Dan Cleary when his career was clearly “Cleary” over but Cleary declined.

Simmonds has from April to September to recover from any injuries he has. If you think he needs more time to heal, why would you resign him as a very likely expensive player just to play on the fourth line?

Agreed, the Cleary/Gagne thing was (frank)ed up. Glad Cleary saved us from himself.

So you'd want Weal in the press box until an injury? Even if he wouldn't be producing at his expected level, I would take him over Weise 100 out of 100 times. Also, as Bill stated, Weal was a C before coming to the NHL, I would like to see a real Weal/Laughton battle for 3C. Laughton doesn't lose much value by playing on the 4th, and a 4th of Raffl-Lehtera-Laughton wouldn't be the worst thing. I just wish these scenarios didnt have to include Lehtera.

Yeah I wonder if he could use, what was it 9 million? Rumor is Dale Weise calls him every few months to remind him.

Crap I unintentionally forgot Weal. Yeah I don't know where he fits. Not good enough for top 9, unless he breaks Gretzky like records during the preseason.

I think it is short-sighted to trade him over a single down time. Look back at Giroux’s 2016-17 season. It would have been an extremely big mistake to trade him.

Not good enough to carry a top 9 line, agreed. But you put him with skilled players, I think he can be good. Top 6 are definitely set, but if Lindblom builds on last season, Simmonds is healthy, and Laughton doesn't blow them away at 3C, I would like to see him in there.
