I thought the guy who took me to task for the accuracy of my Lethal Weapon reference was pretty good, but this is a close second.

Lol. So if you make a mistake with a pop culture reference, and someone is confused about it enough to comment asking what you mean, my clarifying while admitting it may be me forgetting something is somehow taking you to task?

You really need to get a grip on your playing the victim.

people who don't see that Chayka has done a great job so far are blind. Time will tell how the Domi/Galchenyuk deal will pan out but so far all his moves are pretty good.

That's a deal that might pan out for both teams, which is even more rare. Both players needed a change of scenery. Both the teams they're going to aren't especially good so they should get ample playing time to make them better.

Dude, you take me way too seriously. No one is playing the victim. I'm simply making fun of you for being a hyper specific nerd corrector. I talked about that with like 50 people and every single one of them laughed their ass off because it is literally one of the funniest examples of the internet I've ever encountered. (Although I'm sure you'll correct me and point me to an even funnier version of my own personal experience).

the 2015 and 2016 seasons had nothing to do with chayka

chayka won the 2016 draft, benning the 2017. 2018 is up in the air.

benning just had a disastrous offseason.

Um, "disastrous"...how so? Next year is another rebuilding year while kids develop, no big moves needed to be made other than make the bottom six better or harder to play against and improve the PK.

We all know Bennings an idiot but he's done just as well as Chayka and he's the best GM in the league according to Tanner

Roussel, schaller, beagle: $7.9M, 26 goals
Grabner: $3.3M, 27 goals

Benning set himself up for another bottom 5 finish and nothing to sell at the TDL. And he’ll still somehow find away to have less than a full draft board of picks.

his rebuild is going sideways. lots of high-end talent, but he'll have no depth to make it work. oilers 2.0.

Bottom five again hopefully....yes

Keep building through the draft. Those guys aren't getting paid to score goals ffs lol, come on, you're better than than! Bottom six was terrible last year and easy to play against, yes he overpaid on term but Beagle only makes a million in year four. We all know he won't play that year.

2019/20 is where we should start to see the team improve under a new GM as Benning will get poopcanned just for being so media stupid and things will improve rapidly.

When do you think Chayka gets fired? Following the 2019/20 season when they're still at the bottom of the league?

it's about having assets to trade at the deadline for the nucks...not overpaying 4th liners in $ and term.

if they're not a playoff team by 2019/20, then chayka's job security should be in question.

About having assets at the TDL, LOL, what? It's about continuing to build through the draft. Yes having assets to acquire more picks is an important part of building but that's not what "its" about.

When no one wants to give you a draft pick for Vanek, because they have no respect for you, but someone's willing to give up a 1st for Rick Nash who had similar numbers and similar playoff numbers what can you do? Not to mention all the vets he inherited have movement clauses.

Playoffs they're right in the middle of a rebuild, it took the Leafs ten years of bad finishes and pissing away a few excellent draft positions to get a good team. Why shouldn't other teams get a similar timeframe?

vanek's trade value is known to be low. guys like him, mdz, gagner aren't sought after. the nmc is a dead excuse. this is now benning's roster.

beagle, roussel and schaller are the type of players gm's will be looking for; on 1-2 year deals.

but benning won't be able to move beagle (probably ever) or roussel this year.

having assets to sell at the tdl starts by planning well on july 1. benning failed miserably.

the leafs turned things around once they tried to maximize their draft picks. before then, they were going nowhere.

I'm sure his intentions weren't first and foremost to move Beagle or Roussel, that's dumb, that's not why he signed them.

He can move other guys like MDZ, Sutter, Edler (maybe), for draft picks. You're using lame excuses. I hate Benning but he's not in a position to win yet so stop trying to hurry things.

Also, the Leafs turned things around when they drafted good players or traded guys like Luke Schenn for JVR, it takes time to acquire good players and build a team, so again, you're full of poop.
