Ah, (frank) man, I didn't know that.

I guess Tavares is a bust after all. Maybe if we ask nicely The Isles will take him back?

- TrashPanda

Not likely. We'll have to send him to the new Robidas Island (Ottawa)

He's not elite though. Wasn't this established by our Australian friend the other day?
- RickJames77

He's not even average, probably won't make the 4th line.

Want to hear about luck? My friend's dog was in the car with him, and the dog bolted after the accident. The cops that arrived didn't know to look for a dog and left him. A truck driver just happened to be going through a couple of days later and found the dog and decided to stop and pick him up. Since the dog had a tag with the address and phone number - and the truck driver just happened to be going to Toronto with his load anyway - he dropped the dog off at my friend's door.
- TrashPanda

Great story. Hope your friend and his dog were alright in the end.

He had to close his business but he recovered in the end. They kept him in an induced coma for a few weeks after, when he found out what happened with the dog that gave him the strength to pull through.

Lou's nobody's female dog, Martin is going to crush our Big 4 every chance he gets.

Probably have to throw in an unprotected 1st because of that contract. Guy hasn't even scored a single point since signing it. Thanks Dumbass.

Other than closing the business that story got even better.

I got my first moose last season in my second year out. Beginner's luck I suppose. Although I did sit in the same spot calling every hour or so for three days straight.

Still have some sausages, ground meat and a few good cuts left. Should be all gone in time for this year's hunt.

True, but the season itself sucks and is almost pointless. You know who is going to play in every conference finals almost every year and can usually pick who will be in the finals every year.
- RickJames77

Oh ya for sure. I dont watch the sh!t, unless Im taking my boys to a game.
Ya the NBA game is a bore.
But the movement is good.

So great that the GSW dominate like every year. So, so great.

Where did you here that?
I heard he's gone to the Lakers after this season.
IF he even suits up for the Raps this season, at all.

- .HOHO.

Uh?
It was reported late last night and early this morning.
He likes the idea of going to a real contender.
He's healthy and he'll suit up for the raps.

He may still go to the lakers next year...but worry about it when the time comes.

I'd probably say the Marlies are probably the 2nd most followed team in Toronto.

Also, i just learnt the bloke that the Raptors traded for, has no interest in playing in Toronto.

- walshyleafsfan

The marlies arent even a close 2nd in the city of toronto. Nowhere close to the Jays or Raps.

I get he's a top 5 guy in the league....
But why trade for him if you know he doesn't want to be here?
Unless they think they can change his mind or flip him to L.A.

- .HOHO.

OR

Unless management knows more than the fans some media people.

That poop drives me crazy. I didn't like it when Lindros did it for Quebec, but he would've been locked in there for 5 years I think.

But you're not going to suit up and play for a contending team in a world class city?

- gravyface

I am of the firm belief that no bonafide NBA star wants to play in Canada.

In the Raptors 20 something years of existence any of their "star" players bolted or ended up not playing here:

B.J. Armstrong (refused to play)
Vince Carter
Tracey McGrady
Damon Stoudamire
Hakeem Olaujawan (end of his career)
Chris Bosh
Alonzo Mourning (refused to play)
Kwahii Leondard - will either refuse to play or will bolt after the season
I'm sure there's more that I can't recall

The Raptors have (IMO) never had a legit superstar player. You can maybe put Derozan on that list though.

I am doubtful we'll ever see someone the likes of Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Stef Curry, Kevin Durant, etc. ever play long term in T.O.

They have never had an elite generational player, but they have had some significant stars.

The Leafs are the same. It remains to be seen if Matthews changes that, but I suspect Matthews will end up as a "star", but always one step beneath the McDavid/Crosby level.

I don't disagree, but the Leafs have a longer and more storied history with a number of superstar players having played.

The Tavares signing changes everything.

I don't ever recall someone being traded to the Leafs and refusing to suit up.

Durant's favorite team growing up was the Raptors (Vince Carter). You never know. But they would have better luck with signing a euro superstar. Euros love TO.

The leafs have never had the best the player or top 3 player in the league play on the team....in a 100 years.
Matthews may change that.

but there is a fundamental difference. Historically the NHL was populated with mostly Canadian born players. Obviously not the case in the NBA.

There is clearly a lot of unwillingness for NBA players to leave the U.S. I am guessing the climate for some people is a problem, taxes maybe? and perhaps some ignorance of the city itself?

Maybe it is just that they can't get Raptors underoos in the U.S.
