I think that would lack some of the assertiveness the original poster was looking for.

Last i heard about that was a couple weeks ago on Elliott Friedman’s “31 thoughts” podcast- that Trouba had dropped the trade request & was happy there

Was just wondering if anything has come out about the current contract negotiations?

I’m assuming WPG wants to get him locked up long term
An arbitration award will make him a UFA after i believe
Can’t imagine the Jets want that

- jdfitz77

2 seasons til UFA. Still think they'll get him signed long term.

He wasn't even in the league yet.

The first game of his career (and only game of the season) came the next year.

Edit: It was 2 years after.

Most he can get is 2 years now though since they are already doing the hearing process.
- Pegullaville

Did the hearing take place already?
Up until then, they can still negotiate a contract

No, once they walk into the room it's over.

That's why you've had guys sign minutes before the hearing in recent years.

05/06 it was Hasek, Emery, and Morrison

Emery started every playoff game.

That’s what I’m thinking too
Was just wondering if there’s been some chatter out there about the contract talks

I didn’t think it took place yet

Wasn’t sure though bc of Pegulaville’s post about the process starting

Anyone who sees his highlights from his freshman year to now can see the decline of ZG. He used to bull his way from center ice to the crease. I'm not even talking goal totals and ice time, his tenacity fell off the face of the Earth. If he fought or laid crushing hits, or created chances or pestered the opponent, there would be no qualms. At this point in ZG's tenure, there is really nothing he brings to the ice

It frustrates me to no end that people talk about Bailey, Baptiste, etc. earning their opportunities, but Girgensons sucked his way to the first line, and he almost always escapes criticism

It's time to move on from him, there are other players hitting their prime years that deserve a real shot and he takes up a roster spot. If we could get a 3rd round pick for him, send him on his way.

He was better on worse teams

He is butt

I don't believe you are seriously equivocating his performance with ROR

Correct, because he got more of an opportunity.

And it’s not O’Reilly specific or specific to you. It’s the false narrative that you can’t properly evaluate players on bad teams

Watch the way he scored his goals his first year. Hustle breakaways with surprising finish.

This has nothing to do with team skill, this is all on him forgetting, or not wanting to play the kind of hockey that made him intriguing
