Just saw Dodgers Machado trade has “hit a snag.”
Facebook also keeps suggesting me to add NAK as a friend. |

So if he is close then it’s a good probelm to have like the GM has stated plenty of times. What is hart doesn’t pan out ?
How is it a sideways move trading picks or prospects? |

You think the only assets that have to be given up are just picks/prospects that don't matter now?
Remember that time the Flyers traded Bobrovsky? He got traded because the Flyers upgraded their goaltender by signing Bryzgalov then Bob said "I want to play, if not then trade me". How did that upgrade work out?
Hypothetically, Carter Hart or Felix Sandstrom become decent NHL goaltenders in the next 3 years, did Hextall upgrade the goaltenders?
Flyers are not close to contending for a cup this year, but anything is possible. The worst thing that can be done is jumping the gun and making irrational trades in lieu of the future. Is this Bob Clarke? |

Don't forget Felix Sandstrom, people may only talk Hart all the time, but Felix could be just as good IMO. |

To be fair to you (ugh), you didn't overweigh it. Though Hagg sticks out as too high for me given what we know. Like I think Hogberg is what people dreamily think Hagg is, but he's not already in the NHL almost leading the league in hits and xJimJacksonHeartBeats/60. You can point to known league value, but in that case, he should be higher. That's the other thing: league value (for a known NHL asset, whatever the mediocrity) is different than your ideal organizational value. Then you have someone like Stolarz who might have little trade value given his situation and no upwards mobility here. Are you ranking on pure potential in a vacuum? Then it gets confusing in methodology.
You see year in and year out in those awful rankings they end up compiling at BSH, with players like Leier above Myers and so on, that they 1) simply don't know anything about the prospects and 2) don't have any clue how to balance different factors out and 3) rank by names they know given closeness.
To do a top 25 prospects though, minus goalies, you'd have to eliminate 11 people from your list of 25 and add some. It's tougher. When I do mine I try to set my criteria as the prospects who I think are the most talented with the best chance of maximizing potential or potential value here. - Mononoke
It is just my own personal value, and in reality it is only compared to guys within the organization itself. Outside it might be different. Even prospect lists have flaws. Rankings on a guy like Strome are basically "do you think he can learn to skate or not". Stolarz is "can he be healthy again."
I agree that top 25 prospects is probably more interesting, but it is what it is. A few pleebs voting that don't know what they're talking about don't bother me.
There are several guys on the list that fit more in ranges than specific spots. I liked Stolarz as a prospect and my ranking of him is largely based on hope/speculation that he will recover okay and have a career as a pro. I doubt it is for the Flyers in any large capacity, but that isn't the point. I am not writing him off just because he has been injured (aka recency bias). Hagg I thought was fair given that though he has a lower ceiling, at the very least he is an NHL player that has value. I wouldn't blink an eye with Hogberg being ranked above Hagg. There is minimal separation there in the last 5.

I was talking about the actual named voters on BSH, not the fan votes fwiw. They're always laughably bad except for a couple people. |

Who is saying make irrational trades ? Surely not I. You don’t want to give up anything at all it seems. They picks and prospects are there if Ronald chooses to use them without killing the future at all; imo he likes the 2 goalies and doesnt lsee the need to upgrade.

Ok "mr I'm not a gm so i can't make that call". I'm saying if because that is all in the GM's view does trading the resources hurt the long term plan if they answer is yes then you don't make the trade.

Yea, but do you think the flyers could get a goalie that is better than the ones they have? Just answer him, he has been trying to get an answer to that question for 2 days now. |

rinaldo ranting on about "trading the picks and prospects for a real goalie" without actually naming any assets and Mono having a stroke over some guy's Under 25 list |
