If i said that sure. But i didnt.
All i said is if the raps trade kawhi to LA and receive a "middle ground" (your words) package worse than what they traded to get kawhi.
Then they lose.
Bananas. - Fakepartofme
Why do they lose? You don’t think there’s a chance that what San Antonio asked from LA was overreaching?
If Toronto agrees to a lesser package which is objectively more reasonable, why is it automatically a loss?

Sure why not? As fans we were told "oh we can't win cause of Lebron" well now he's in the West and this year you started hearing "Well the celtics..." so same story. He had to go all in this time. - Aaron_85
The raps couldn't get far the past 4 years in the playoffs.
Masai made big changes. Gotta respect that.
Ok Dubas, back to you...lets keep this going.
What star are you gonna bring in now? |

Oh I respect it. Had to do something.
Dubas is going to sign Nylander and Matthews to contracts which is like bringing in a big player. |

Raptors doing a UG acquiring Karlsson logic play parallel... he's the best player available ... and even though we won't be able to afford him next year... we have to get him now because of taxes or pajamas or something |

Trouba is gonna get paid or he's gonna GTFO. - Scabeh
Trouba might still want out and Winnipeg does have cap problems next year. Not the same tier but maybe a good fit for less plus keep Nylander. Gardiner can take a hike for all I care.
- dwoo33
this would be a much less damaging option for the Leafs to consider... moving Gardiner + for Trouba if his contractual situation is ugly (we'll know more later this week)...
and don't have to give up Nylander and and and to get him....
Gardiner is going to want to get paid if he has another 50+ point season.... and moving him at the deadline could be problematic.
Karlssion will want Doughty money... and however you want to slice it that would be too much tied up in 4-5 players.
my post from last night before some blathering idiot was blathering on about how the Leafs should do anything trade anyone to get Karlsson.
here's the logic (breath deep before you blather out another nonsensical response)....
Trouba won't cost as much to acquire as Karlsson
Trouba would address a pretty well recognized gap in the Leafs lineup
Trouba isn't as offensively gifted as Karlsson - but that is not what the Leafs as badly
Trouba won't cost 11M$ against the CAP
Trouba is not as old as Karlsson
just a thought... 'cause you know that the Taxes in Ontario will be the deciding factor.

I was wondering whether Dubas might come out of July... at the end of the RFA review period... wtih contracts for all three guys... and with Tavares signed.
that would have to be considered a pretty good start to his GM career, contract certainty

I completely apologize for that.
I really thought at the time we needed Karlsson at ALL COST.
But I now see the error of my ways. Although Karlsson is great offensively, he's not worth the $11mm cap hit and not worth losing Nylander, Gardiner and a 1st round pick.
I'd like to apologize to everyone that had to read my nonsense. And I'd like to thank Bruce and .OHOH. for helping me see the error of my ways.

Which is kind of stupid of them with Karlsson being available. They have a really great chance to fill that last major hole they need to fill. Another chance like that doesn't come around every day.
That being said, if Karlsson ends up in Tampa Bay, they're going to have to do twice the work to make up the difference. Tampa Bay's defense is already better as it is, adding Karlsson would be incredibly hard to compete with every year.
If they can't get Karlsson, Pietrangelo should be on their radar immediately. - Unholy_Goalie
Only so much puck to go around.
I am not so sure that fit with Tampa is ideal. |

I like Karlsson as well... but I don't feel compelled to say it repeatedly for about four hours a day...
I repeated myself on the Trouba opportunity twice I believe .. .that's a bit of overkill from my perspective, 'cause it is just my opinion.
I guess I have to find myself a set of those magic pajamas. or drugs ... or mold in my parents basement.. |
