I think the knock on him is his skating may not be good enough for the NHL. Similar to Pokka who we had here for a few years and Gilbert who will be vying with Tuolola for playing time.

Honestly, I do not make a trade for Panarin. If you want him back, look to sign him next offseason. Open up cap space for next year by dealing AA and bringing back someone who has 1 year left. I do not give up a ADB, Schmaltz, or even Murphy. Even if there is a guaranteed extension.

Example (obviously needs tweaking, but something I'd look at working towards):

AA + Higher End Prospect + Pick for Patches

Let Patches walk at end of season, trading AA opens up additional $4.5M in cap. Hossa cap ($5.5M) + AA is $10M. Try to use that for Panarin. Gives us a decent lineup this year (given a healthy Kruger) and still keeps two "baby core" in the lineup. I think thre would be enough cap space to sign Schmaltz to a decent extension (2/3 years for $4.5M) and ADB the next year.

Tuulola is very different player than Pokka. More skilled and better skater, not saying he is great but don't think that will hold him back. It's going to be strenght and playing d.

I've always thought Gilbert moves well for his size? Is skating issue with him?

- MjulQvist
Gilbert does move well for his size. He’s a strong skater and has a really powerful stride, but the knock on him originally was that he could stand to his footwork. I don't think I've seen any reports question that he's improved the latter at school, though.

Like i said, Crawford is healthy, but he’s in the dog house big time. Not sure about Panarin, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see Crow dealt if they’d find a taker

Would you trade Crow to CBJ for Panarin, with Panarin being extended? Top 6 is looking very nice, but the D is still in rough shape, and now you're going to work with Cam Ward and Forsberg...

How would the cap look with Crow off the books, and Panarin signing on for say 9mil a year?

I would prefer to have a healthy Crawford in net for the Hawks, I’m just saying That if the rumor I heard were true, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Hawks are quietly shopping Crawford.

Scotty: You know son, I never needed great goaltending to win a Cup.

Stan: Hold my beer...

Not that I put any stock into an Ek rumor, but if we go into the season with Ward and Forsberg as the 1/2, expect to see Keith, AA, and Murphy traded shortly after the season starts, because they are not serious about winning this year.

I really don"t think Anisimov will be with the team this season, but if he is, here is my season starting forward line-up. I really like #1 line.

Saad Schmaltz Kane ( Fast, scoring #1 line )

Debrincat Toews Sikura ( skilled #2 line )

Kunitz Anisimov Hayden ( skill and grit #3 line )

Martinsen Kruger Bouma ( grit, great pk, shot blockers )

Not bad balance of skill and grit for what the Hawks currently have available.
Not sold on Sikura at all, maybe flip-flop Hayden with Sikura .

I understand this argument. Only problem is that if you wait till next offseason his price might go up in bidding war. I'm not saying Hawks should bring him back but if there is a chance trade+sing I would consider it. I don't think ADB will ever be as dynamic player as Panarin is.

Agreed, his price could be driven up. But if it is, then you have $10M to go out and get two plus players, while still having ADB and Schmaltz. It shouldn't be Panarin or bust. I don't overpay for Panarin, as much as I want him back.

Bowman speaking to press at prospect camp today:

Scott Powers
‏@ByScottPowers
Stan Bowman is open to making a move before the season, but it doesn't sound like he believes he needs to. The Blackhawks could go into the season with their current roster.

Bowman on Crawford: "Corey was actually just in town, ran into him yesterday, talked to him for awhile. Things are looking good. He said he hasn't done a whole lot on-ice stuff yet, but like most of our guys, a few of our guys were just starting to skate today."

Charlie Roumeliotis
@CRoumeliotis

Stan Bowman said #Blackhawks have had discussions about moving Marian Hossa’s contract for a year, but it reached the point where it became “challenging” to operate.

Stan Bowman on including Vinnie Hinostroza in Marian Hossa trade: “We tried to make that deal work in every other way possible but they obviously said he had to be in it.” #Blackhawks

Mark Lazerus
@MarkLazerus

Bowman said he didn't receive any sort of assurances from Marian Hossa that he won't officially retire in the next three years (the Blackhawks would get killed with recapture penalties if he did), but didn't sound the least bit worried. We all know Hossa wouldn't screw the Hawks.

Sorry there had been typos, auto correct, htsmaticsl problem. Sorry for the eyesight overlooked but now fixed

The whole thing about Crawford, is that before he is traded he has to show he is as good as ever. Because Crawford is a warrior and a playoff winner. While his career success is notable perhaps his greater accomplishment is the mental aspect of being solid and getting through adversity. Not letting bad goals, bad outing deflate him.

Hopefully this attitude carries forth in his come back. If I am Nashville or Winnipeg and I have been stymied, before expansion you increase your Stanley Cup odds by adding Crawford as part of a tandem. I do not know if Nashville goes with Saros after another playoff meltdown in goal (Rhinne). Kind of blows your mind, the Vezina Trophy winner not good enough. Crawford instead, at least as a tandem eases pressure after big $ given you youthful Hellbuyck. I could imagine it Crawford's address changes at the trade deadline as his contract is less after three fourth of the games into the season.

Why would the Islanders trade a 28 year old 30 goal scorer and picks when they are in the same boat as Chicago for a 33 year old goalie that has some kind of unknown issues going on?

To be competitive and keep turstiles active I say the defense needs Keith. Everyone else can fall in behind him A convoluted mess without Keith

Thank goodness. Paciiretty out long term I I just too often and no way do I sacrifice gold assets like top young players or top picks. Paciiretty fits in better for certain other teams.

Lamorello is a smart cookie. I see they just signed Pulloch for two years. One of best pp shots in league. He burried some vs us.
