So if 90% of the league disappeared off the face of the Earth, you wouldn't notice a drop off with the replacements?
- jcragcrumple

Eh, 90% is high. I’d say 65-75%.

Most of the leagues players are all very similar in skill.

It’s opportunity and circumstances that separate most of them

Don't know enough to defend his methodology, but I know a lot of his charts are based on GAR. Can only guess that he projects Bealieu and Hunwick higher than McCabe and Nelson, though I really don't know why.

I'll defend his third line though. That line will probably see 65% dzone starts. Can't have Erod and Baptiste doing that. Can't see Thompson on a 4th line, though maybe his projections simply place him there.

Ya, I understand what your saying, which is the traditional view.
I just want the Sabres to move to a more aggressive, upbeat tempo strategy.have 3 lines focused on scoring ... hence why I wanted it flipped.
Line 4 can be the Defensive line.
Symantics really.

Also, it is a waste having Tage on 4th ... put him on line 1 in the AHL then.

I think you're conflating replaceable with interchangeable.

If we found out tomorrow that girgs was eaten by a Latvian swamp donkey, it wouldn't change the Sabres' fortunes

Agreed, and the same can be said for every player that isn’t a teams top 5 or 6 best players.

But yes, I more mean interchangeable

I get the motive, but this is a young group of forwards and many are weak defensively. If the top 2 lines are seeing heavy ozone starts, someone has to balance that out and they'll see more ice time than a 4th line.

Maybe Eichel is ready handle 50% dzone starts, but I wouldn't want to do that to Casey.

I agree.

That's why tanking for high end talent is still the formula in the nhl.

3 or 4 stars , decent goaltending and the other guys.

Eichel
Mitts
Dahlin

Got any predictions for your boy Armia now that he’s not stuck behind all that talent in Winnipeg?

Wow
That would be interesting
Especially since Guhle could potentially start in Rochester

I’ll say this...

If you’re correct, we are gonna be in pretty damn good shape

It’ll be interesting to see how the lines are made up & deployed this season

Will Berglund be LW2 or 3C?
Once that’s decided, then we can start to slot in the rest of the bottom6

- jdfitz77

It wouldn't shock me if they put Burglund at 2LW to help Mittelstadt out either with Face-offs or just with transitioning to the NHL. If Mitts hold his own Burglund can be moved down to 3C and hopefully someone will be ready to take his place as 2LW. I think it will be smart to atleast start Mitts with atleast 1 Veteran to start the season just to help with the transition, But that's just my opinion. It's mostly why I see Okposo playing 2RW to start instead of someone like Reinhart or Thompson, but I don't think it will be that way the entire season, Mitts should be able to have a Younger player/s on his wing once he is comfortable playing the center position in the NHL and gets good at face-offs.

15-18 goals 35-ish points?

Depends on how much he plays

Well there’s not much to hold him back as far as playing time goes
Not if he’s actually good

Gallagher obviously has a top line spot,
but looks like RW2 is up for grabs

Im too lazy to look at the habs roster to review their rw....maybe Sabres should trade one of theirs for a LWer.

it's a hot mess over there

if they do not trade Pacioretty, you still have Drouin and Domi as left wingers as well

one of those will move to center IMO

which pushes Shaw or Plekanec to RW

I doubt Armia gets top 6 minutes to start the year

They already said Drouin will be back a center which is a huge mistake
