You've gotta stretch the truth and exaggerate a little in the summer just to make conversation. You do it all year round so you're a great summer poster

Do you have summertime and wintertime pom-poms or just go with one set?

No Pom poms here. I think we are bottom 5 just like last year. Enjoy the drama queen

Slightly less than 1 player per team per year. Interesting.

Really by that, we should probably be giving the prospects a bit more time to develop. If only 20 some odd players have played a full season 4 years after being drafted, there is usually another 30-40 players that will play over 200 nhl games in that draft.

The NHL gives 4 years to College and Euro's for a reason. 2 more years of junior and 3 years of AHL before waivers.

It kind of seems like the NHL views 4-5 years as the development before players should start to be in the NHL in their 5th year after being drafted.

Your buddy, voice for the Sutter trade rumours, brings up a good point here.

Your assessments are too vague, as were mine with the three year statement. The first round is a definite three years or you've made a bad pick, the second round even though only around 15 players make the NHL I'm still going with three years. Third round I'd stretch it out to four or five years.

By the third year your kid should have at least 40 games under his belt for all skaters, goaltenders no, they take longer.

On another note, when next season is done it'll be Benning's fifth as GM, I'd like to think they take a slight step forward in year six. This upcoming year can be another building year, they've gotta see some progress after that though!!

Edit: honestly don't think he'll make it past this upcoming season though.

Agreed! unless they have a significant improvement this season he is probably gone. And that’s ok! Benning has done a decent job adding young talent but he probably isnt shrewd enough to put together a contender. To be a cup winning GM you need to be a bit of an ass

24 kids have played at least 40 games from your 2015 draft. Still not a 1st round.

37 players from the 2014 draft have played over 40 games.

58 players from the 2013 draft. There are players that may never play another game from this draft in the NHL. That's half a season. Still after 6 years less then 2 rounds of players haven't even played half a season.

Then you've made bad picks because there's always better kids available, you've just gotta find them.

From the 2015 draft both the Canucks and the Flyers first round picks meet my criteria. Neither team had a 2nd rounder but the Flyers had two 1st rounders.

Reason why Chicago won 3 cups. From 2002-2007 From Keith to Kane and everyone in between. 16 drafted players played 200 games or more in the NHL.

Talon and company drafted well for them, 2004 they had 17 picks! That's how you increase your odds.

Only four kids from the first round in 2014 haven't played 40 or more games. Four teams made bad picks.

They also had picks into round 9. They drafted really really really well. That's how they won 3 cups.

3 out of 30 in the 2nd round. 2 out of 30 in the 3rd round. So out of the next 60 picks 55 were bad.

If Van still had Tree and Benning wouldn't have traded away Forsling and McCann. He would have 5 guys that fit into your idea. Well 4 plus Demko who is allowed longer.

I’d like to see Tree back when old D retire or traded. Forsling we gave away. As for McCann he’s nothing special.
