Totally agree lol
Too early to see anything clearly let alone how the post Sedin era begins. - Nighthawk
I believe there will be players who have career years with more minutes being handed out. But if the team has half the injuries it did last season, that roster will look like total crap compared to other teams in the west.
It may be a rough ride for us. |

what is the statute of limitations on Gillis’ negative impact on this team? - bloatedmosquito
I'm pretty sure everything is Benning's fault now. |

Its nearing its end. Its JB’s show now that he’s had 4yrs & 5 drafts at this remake. Time to see the kids prove him right or wrong. I’m reasonably optimistic some will work out & how well that happens dictates if JB sees the end of this next season or not. |

At least when Gillis (frank)ed up he did it with a bit of flare. |

I still pine for the days of Nick Bonino, who is a terrific interview. I don't think he was given a fair shake during his one year here in Vancouver.
That being said, I do think Sutter has trade value. His name still carries weight with the old-school types, he skates well and he plays with the kind of responsibility that coaches love.
I'll probably talk about this in a future blog as summer wears on: in my perfect world, enough Canucks players step up that he's expendable by the trade deadline, when he'd be a good add for some team's playoff run. - Carol Schram
Thx Carol and keep us all up to date on the Sutter speak. I usually have a chance to chat with him at the pro camps here in Red Deer in summer time will be interesting to see what he has to say about the direction of the team...if anything lol |

Benefits of inheriting a better roster.
At least Keenan made good trades although i didn’t like him 1 iota. When or If JB gets his walking papers the next GM will have a good starting point to begin with. |

Benning's more of a slow burn kind of guy. Gillis poured gasoline on dumpster fires. |

Found MG to be too smug & arrogant.
JB comes off as too honest.
Gillis had more free reign. |

Oh I agree he left the organization in terrible shape when it comes to prospects, but, it's time to stop blaming him for the team's current situation. Benning has had five drafts to install some youth into the lineup. So far he's only got Virtanen from his first few drafts, should be better. |

Speaking of 10yrs seems long but most teams been much longer at it so it pales by comparison.
To be a perennial PO team is the 1st priority. Cup contending can only follow that. Too few teams are cup contenders who didn’t suck or tank for 1oa generational players. That is no guarantee either. IMO strong D & a goalie is a good start. Poile comes to mind. Elite C’s always help but the demand & supply is not there. D can be built over time but its a long process. |

The last couple drafts 2017 & 2018 are far too early, however, I'd like to see some younger guys from 2014, 2015 & 2016 on the roster next year. And I'm not talking just first round picks, there's seven rounds. |

You know you're favourite team has two players since 14 that have done anything in the league right?
You are a very unrealistic person when it comes to drafting standards and when players should enter the league.

From where I stand the roster is shaping up to be rather poopy. No matter how many times you rearrange it. - bloatedmosquito

If Gilles had drafted well, those players would be coming into their own, right about now. So in another 10 years he'll be off the hook. |

I'll give you this, 2016 is pushing it a bit but we could realistically have Virtanen, Demko, McCann, Tryamkin in the lineup from 2014. Boeser and Gaudette from 2015. Juolevi from 2016.
So I think it's you who's being unrealistic. Even if you subtract McCann and Tryamkin, it's time for those other kids to show what they can do at the NHL level. I'm not asking them to "do anything" I'm asking them to make the team.
As for your Flyers comment, they have Sanheim, Konecny, Lindblom and Provorov in their lineup from 2014 & 2015 drafts. |

They've gotta make room for some kids, unless someone completely poops the bed at camp they need to turn this over to some kids. |

More like the kids gotta force the room to open up. As it stands the top 6-8 has opportunity. If they do then trades will happen if not sooner. |
