Don, is today a good day for baking or do you have cheerleading practice? - Marwood

I just read a quote on twitter about Benning saying he'll waive Leipsic, Goldobin and or Grandlund or trade them if he can. Is he retarded or what is the actual context he's speaking to?
Anyone know? - Pacificgem
It's from the article that Carol mentioned in the blog.
JB likes to play poker with all his cards showing, he has balls bigger than Sutter |

You should always assume he is retarded Before seeking context it’s part of an article in which he said players have to earn spots and if they don’t they will be traded or waived - CanuckDon
A player who is not capable of making the roster on the worst team in the league has how much trade value? |

You would assume he loses his bargaining power with a public statement like that, wouldn't you? The quote I read specifically named Goldobin, Leipsic and Grandlund. I hope that statement reflects the Gagner's, Schaller's, Eriksson's and everyone else? |

Also relevant: Benning doesn't namecheck those players, the author Brough does.

zero trade value. And it’s also extremely unlikely they would be claimed |

Well at least there's that, thanks. Although I think it would reflect pretty poorly on his abilities as a GM if he's forced to waive a player like Gagner or Eriksson with Goldobin given the wasted money. As an owner he would be fired for his incompetence. |

I could see a team close to the cap who was looking for a bit of depth scoring taking a flyer on Goldy or Lipstck. I agree, Gaunce clears. As would Gagner, Baertschi, Granlund, Sutter and Eriksson. |

I thought Leipsic played well when he came over, definitely more offensive upside than Grandlund that's for sure. |

You work in the front office, fielding Sutter trade requests all day do you? Thought you were going to the lake with a canoe and a six pack. Get out, enjoy the sun. |

Granlund with Horvat and Boeser would produce much better than Granlund with Sutter and Dorsett. |

Sutter is death for anyone looking to produce offence lol. Great faceoff guy and a decent checker. His experience and wingspan (good stick) allows him to be good on the penalty kill as well. |

Nothing in google search talks about all the teams that want to trade for Sutter. This was #3 or #4 in the search result though https://bleacherreport.co...s-after-terrible-contract |

Botchford has been the guy reporting that the Canucks have had multiple calls on Sutter, including the Ducks as a possible fill-in while Kesler deals with his injuries.
Here's the rundown:

Botchford is credited around these parts as being pretty much a clown, especially by Don, now Don wants to quote him on his comments about a Sutter trade |

Yeah, thanks I read that. My schtic is mostly tongue in cheek, but I also don't buy that the Canucks could recoup even half what they paid in any potential Sutter trade. I would put the over under at Tyler Motte as a fair return. |

I still pine for the days of Nick Bonino, who is a terrific interview. I don't think he was given a fair shake during his one year here in Vancouver.
That being said, I do think Sutter has trade value. His name still carries weight with the old-school types, he skates well and he plays with the kind of responsibility that coaches love.
I'll probably talk about this in a future blog as summer wears on: in my perfect world, enough Canucks players step up that he's expendable by the trade deadline, when he'd be a good add for some team's playoff run.
