Tell me how a more acute passing angle helps one-timers.
- Wetbandit1

Tell me how two righties can both be a threat to shoot a one timer while passing back and forth.

The personnel dictated the system. Risto and Eichel are both right handed and it forced the play to come from a different direction to be effective.
- TheHank

A lefty on the point feeding a right shot on the far-side half wall is objectively worse

Edit: holy jargon

A 4-on-3 is a powerplay, and that video perfectly illustrates my point. Two righties can combine easier on a power play goal. Imagine if Risto is a lefty there. He'd be feeding the pass backwards through Pominville
- jcragcrumple

The pomminville goal wasn’t the 4 on 3and it happened on the other side of the ice. How would that look on the left side with two righties? Not like that. A 5 on 4 pp is completely different than a 4 on 3, way more space to do what you want with.

Because this is the coaching staff.

If they are going to run this system it makes more sense to have a lefty.

I mean let’s be honest. Dahlin will be there regardless soon anyways

- sbroads24

Maybe it shouldn't be if they can't run a simple PP with the personnel available. One that was proven.

Yeah, he probably should be, but in the mean time? That's just awful coaching if you're not designing your system around your personnel, but your personnel around your system. The system they had worked like a charm. Why in the (frank) would they change it? This is Rex Ryan all over again, "my system is better". No, it's not. Ask Adam Oates how trying to make Ovechkin into a RW worked out for his coaching career.

Did you see how Green had to sweep the puck all the way around his body to pass it?

That split second gives the goalie and defense time.

Omg, this is literally what I want.

Backstrom = Dahlin
Green= Risto
OV= Eichel

1-3-1 ftw

Bandito, idk how I missed that

Yeah, and how would a lefty make that pass? A backhand? Good (frank)ing luck.

Jack's shot is more than capable enough to defeat whatever "deficiency" comes from that. A lefty doesn't have a hope in hell of even trying to make that play.

and that it's Backstrom creating the play...this is a much different conversation if Eichel isn't both the focal point and the best shooter

This is what I’m not getting.

During a regular PP, How is it not easier? The one you showed was a PP with 20 seconds left where the entire defense was collapsed down low. They were obviously tired.

On a regular PP entry, with a lefty up top, he is facing Eichel, his back is to the right wall. The defense couldn’t just focus right on Eichel.

This is why 90 and 21 got some easy PP goals this year.

Dudes ... DUDES. I just had the best burger I've ever eaten in my 52 year old life. So the other day, I hear about this joint in West Seneca that won "Best Overall Food Item" at last weeks Taste Of Buffalo ... Stack Burger in West Seneca. So I just got back from there and felt compelled to tell everyone about the best burger I've ever eaten - their Hangover Burger. SO GOOD ! When describing a good burger, rarely do you start by saying "it was the bun that made the difference". Their brioche bun was the best I've ever had...so tasty ! The meat was fresh, the cheese was excellent, the sunny side egg was perfect, the bacon was awesome...crispy and huge, and the hash browns were hot as hell and perfectly done. The entire thing is made right there and fresh and comes out piping hot. I ate it in the car, as it's takeout only (there were 2 picnic tables outside, but they were wet due to the rain). Holy F was that burger flavorful - so much so that I went back in after eating and yelled : "OMG that was EFFING AWESOME .... I'll be back again...God damn was was good" and I left.

Damn I want another one. Everyone, head to Stack Burger if you haven't been there yet. It's a hole in the wall, but whatever. Try it out ! You won't be disappointed.

Is Eichel a better play maker or shooter? I feel strongly that he's a playmaker and they need a one-time threat on the right side of the ice. Essentially, flip flop your caps vid.

Last year, Eichel was forced to be both.

I feel his shot needs to be used, he shot almost 20% the two years prior to this, but they forced it way too much.

But a sniper on the other side, instead of two guys with average shots in 90 and 21 would help

Because the tenth of a second it would take if a righty was way out of position to transition to pass isn't enough time. The goalie can always over commit and then it's an easy pass to the backdoor.

It's much easier for a righty to make a one-timer pass than a lefty. It's simple geometry, if a lefty can even make the pass at all. The righty has way more real-estate to pass down low to the right than a lefty would.
