How does trading Coots for Subban make either team better ?

Asked another way why in the Hell would either team do that deal?

Can you actually read? Seriously, if this is a response to my post and this is what you took away from it, this is my question to you.

I don't want to insult your intelligence more than you just unknowingly insulted your own.

That is assuming a lot of things go really well. Frost is almost certainly going to be in juniors this year and Rubtsov's stock keeps dropping. There is also no guarantee that Patrick reaches his potential to be a true 1C.

The NHL roster doesn't even have a 3C that all are confident in at the moment.

Because no player has played center that was a winger or a winger that was a center?

Wingers generally never move to center and excel. Nashville never going anywhere until they get a top center. IMO Patrick will be as good as coots. Each player brings a little different thing but all in all about the same. Obviously Patrick has to prove it more but coots only has one great season offensively and imo probably was a career year. And I don’t think our d is as deep as some think. I mean come on, we basically had to turn over all 6. Plus chances are one is going in expansion draft. And I don’t see any besides provy as a true top pair stud. Yeah some good top pair partners I’m looking more a few years down the line. It took KIngs 10 years to turn roster over a few times and win a cup. We’re barely over half way there in imo

Patrick potentially being as good as Couturier is not a valid reason to trade Couturier. You simply don't trade a center who is 25 and has 30 goal 70 point offensive ability while being a Selke level defender. You keep that player. It's more about how deep the Flyers defense could potentially be rather than where it is right now. I think Gostisbehere in a number of ways is already a top pairing defenseman. Sanheim definitely has the potential to be a top pair defenseman also.

How did we basically have to turn over all 6 ?
Did we replace Provy, 👻 , Gudas at some point this off-season. I have traveled a bit but dont think i missed all that.

Wait, was it you or ftown who trolled me hard for suggesting that we should sign one of JvR, Evander Kane, Rick Nash or James Neal mid season?
- SuperSchennBros

I don't troll. But regardless that wasn't me. Also those players are all so very different. How can you lump them into one group?

Fair assessment. I just felt like we needed a natural top six winger on the left side. My bad, it was likely ftown.

You think Ghost is a top pair defenseman? I’m not attacking you, I’m seriously asking. I’m kinda shocked by this.

Wasn’t me. Unless you specifically said Neal. Then it could have been me. I like the jvr signing though.

Also, don’t see a problem with him on the second line.

No worries dude. I agree with your sentiment tho and I was extremely pleased with the JVR signing. I don't think it makes coots expandable tho because I don't want to see G back in the middle.

My bad guys. It was someone without a aviator.

In fairness, I never thought JvR would come back. I just felt like we needed an upgrade on LW and I listed the LW UFAs and this dude just gave me the business.

No, no, no. I don’t think we should ever trade Coots. We need him for a very long time. I think Coots is gonna have to be pushed back either on the top PP in favor of JvR or pushed back at center in favor of Giroux because our center depth is so weak. I could be wrong of course but JvR absolutely has to take on a strong role on this team.

Oh okay I misunderstood you. I don't wanna see Coots taken out of the 1c role but I am okay with him moving to the second pp unit because that unit needs all the help that it can get. However I feel like the team thinks JVR can replace simmer or Patrick on the top unit. Honestly I think it should be G, Jake, Ghost, jvr, nopa on the first unit and TK, coots, simmer, provy, Sanheim on the second unit
