Haha that package is maybe Muzzin's value. Maybe. That would free up those roster spots though. Can't see them trading Muzzin. Rights to Voynov on the other hand. - neem55
Should have known you would come in with an overvalue of a 2nd pairing defender .
I don't know how trading the rights to Voynov gets them any more cap space.

What about Tanner Pearson+ Jake Muzzin for Goldy, Granlund, MDZ, Carcone? - manvanfan
I would be ok with anyone of those 2 for that sadsack bunch. |

Might have to give up a 2nd instead of Granlund. Gives LA cheaper NHL players and enough cap space to take a run at Skinner or Patches. |

Any word on negotiations between Canucks and Virtanen? - Reubenkincade
All I know is that Jake went for a nice rollerblade around the Stanley Park Seawall last night, according to his Instagram stories. He seems relaxed enough about the situation.
As mentioned above, Iain MacIntyre asked Benning about Jake and Stecher at the end of this article:
https://twitter.com/Sport...tatus/1017623150685638656
“We’ve still got all summer,” Benning said. “I don’t talk about contract negotiations through the press, but we’re going through the process and we still have lots of time to figure out contracts for them.” |

I'd honestly think long and hard about trying to throw something at Stecher like a 12.5/5yrs or something. Its 3% of the cap and you could easily get yourself positive value out of that deal as early as next year, which is something this team has to find a way to start doing.
Jake could easily come in at like 2.6/2years or something like that. You can argue he hasn't even earned that yet but it wouldn't be a bad bridge deal. |

So if he is out rollerblading, wonder why he is getting fat? 😁 |

The "Scott Mayfield" contract. If Stecher knows that the chances he won't ever be more then a 3rd pairing/depth player then he should take the contract. |

I was thinking more along the lines of a Ryan Ellis bargain because 2.5 for any guy who can play top 4 reliably is a hella deal and Scott Mayfield sucks. |

You can walk out of the surgery. That's not the issue.
The issue is getting your body mechanics and general strength back to a point where your imbalances aren't an issue and you can train to progress. |

so I noticed last night that a whole bunch of Canucks bloggers (Ryan Biech included) had reposted a stats guy (not sure who he is employed by) had done a statistical structure chart of best 15 NHL prospects (exclusion of prospects drafted in 2018). NOTE - I do not know the metrics to which the list was composed of, but this guy and his list has been praised by some pretty reputable people.

Troy Stecher top 4 reliable is a very ongoing debate in here.
Makita probably just throw up a bit thinking about Stecher in Van's top 4.
I'd put Stecher somewhere between Ellis and Mayfield. 2.5 AAV is like the old 1.8 AAV since Ellis signed that contract. |

To think Stecher isn't a top 4 is bonkers. He's the solid option guy-who-plays-with-a-guy on the right side. Bottom pairing guys just plain suck ass for the most part. Stecher does not. If Gudbranson or Hutton played with half the effort Stecher does then no one would have complaints about either of them. |

the most odd part about that list, to me anyway, was Juolevi. The other odd part about seeing that list on twitter, is that other teams don't think its completely out of the blue to see Juolevi as a sure-bet prospect. I honestly think the most critical fans of his are Canucks fans themselves. That and Calgary fans for obvious reasons. |

The only thing that bothers me about these models is that their definition of success is largely based on games played. There isn't a measurement to qualify it as like "Sure he played 400 games, but he was a 3rd overall pick and has scored 60 career points"
I tend to find they have more value for players in later rounds like 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. as thats when you can get an idea of whether you got a player or a pretender. |
