I doubt the Hawks did anything - CapFriendly is just making a guess of who is going to be on the team. Probably to give a more accurate representation of cap space that is really available, kind of like when they moved Forsberg down to the non-roster section but he most definitely will have to pass through waivers to go to the AHL. I think they may be basing it partially on Sean Tierney's roster projections. - L_B_R
Ah, gotcha. Thanks.

Friends and first responders have identified victim in early morning drowning at the Hamilton Harbour as former @NHL goalie Ray Emery. Ray played the @ottawasenators, @NHLBlackhawks, @AnaheimDucks and the @NHLFlyers. He was swimming with several friends & never surfaced #HamOnt - pdx2ord
This makes me very sad. Feel for his loved ones. |

On a side note, related to Enery’s gone-too-soon passing, the Hawks’ PR and social media teams have been just horrible for the past couple of seasons. I think all of their good people must have quit.
No congratulatory message to the Capitals (only team not to do so as far as I could tell) and only former team for Emery that has not released a statement or message of condolence. Other examples, but those stand out vis a vis the rest of the NHL. |

Maybe be patient about the message on Emery. Most teams have been tweeting in the last 30 minutes so give them time.
And on the topic of the Caps, they did tweet about that:

Oh good, I obviously missed the Caps one. I only saw the retweet of Obama’s message when I ran a search. Didn’t see the one from the day after they won. Thanks for correction.
When Sports Illustrated beats them to a message for one of their former players, tho...
It’s not just these two examples, but quality of the team’s PR and handling of social media overall past couple of years that I’ve been noticing. This situation just brought those thoughts to forefront.

SI's message of condolence came after the Hawks' by about two minutes - unless you're counting their news report that literally just repeated the official report?
I'm not totally sure why that would be an issue anyway. The message was released about an hour after the official report and probably needed certain levels of sign-off - I know my company does for important messages.

Smells of a Q signing. He has an affinity for poopty, slow D-men like he was when he played. |

Yes, I understand all too well the levels of approval needed for corporate messaging and press releases.
It was a general observation I've had for a while now that today's news triggered in me. I was obviously wrong about the Caps message, and the Hawks did send a message about Ray within the hour. Moving on. . . |

Yeah it’s out there.
Is there so much anger here against the front office that we’re now blasting them for not putting out a condolence message on what we may consider a quick enough timetable - and for not sending out a congratulatory message when, actually, they did?
We seem to be looking for reasons to criticize.... |

It sure seems that way. I grew up through the 70's 80's 90's 00's up to 2010 and this decade has been AMAZING, 3 Blackhawk SC and one Cubs World Series Title, don't understand all the anger myself, be nice if Bears could... but I'll take it if... |

When does prospect camp start ? This is just my opinion but i have a feeling another big move is coming not involving faulk skinner or patch. Sad news about Emery key part of the 2013 cup win. R.I.P. |

I’m not angry. I have just noticed that the quality of their overall social media and PR campaign seems to have dropped off in past couple of years. They lost some key people to the Bears and other teams. They’ll need a strong and engaging team as they try and win (back) fans’ dollars during this rebuild.
I used a couple of bad examples, admittedly. As a fan, just want to see them excelling in all areas on and off the ice. |

Jokiharju definitely pushing for a roster spot this year. Be interesting how he does at camp. Any word on whether Stan’s negotiations on where he is allowed to play came to a conclusion?
https://chicago.suntimes....khawks-roster-spot-at-19/ - pdx2ord
It'll be interesting to see if he can do it - it's not common for 18 year olds picked as far back as him to make the NHL, but it's not impossible. In one of Powers articles, it was mentioned that Jokiharju has been focusing on strength and skating this summer, and reported put up muscle weight. |

On the Blackhawks website is a camp primer article and the snapshot for Beaudin included a quote of him stating he wants to play with some "meanness" in his upcoming year at Drummondville. It could very well be his own desire to enhance that element of his defensive game, but it would be even nicer if that was feedback from Hawks management to not just him but other blueline prospects. |

Unless Seabrook, Anisimov or Crawford is going to MTL/CAR, I hope the Hawks steer clear of Pacioretty and Skinner. If Bowman is sending assets for a player to help them this season, it needs to be a defenseman IMO. |

I had a chance to meet him and spoke to him at work (ORD). He truly was a good guy very humble and personable. You always hear the same sentiment about NHL Players. Which is a great reflection of the game we all know and LOVE. RIP Ray Emery |

Not sure if there's a live stream. IIRC there's only one scrimmage. Camp is mostly drills and such. Second or third year in a row with this format. |
