I'm so happy to see all the trading of assets finally catching up with Chicago. Brandon Manning having to play top 4 minutes.

Even Chicago isn't bad enough to have Manning playing top 4 minutes. My guess is it won't be long before he plays himself back into the press box.

A player as small as Martel can't be simply a good skills player. To overcome the inherent disadvantages, he'd better be a supreme offensive talent (ala Johnny Gaudreau) or such a world-class speedster that he is a constant breakaway threat on the penalty kill as well as other situations (ala Nashville's Viktor Arvidsson).

If he keeps his motor going, and is dogged on loose pucks, he could still have a chance to stick around as an undersized depth player/auxiliary goal scorer, like a Brendan Gallagher.

Small guys don't necessarily have to either fit the Arvidsson or Gaudreau mold anymore.

He is not a "garbage goal" scorer who is often lurking around the net, ala Gallagher. He doesn't kill penalties. He does have a good motor and good hands but is basically an NHL/AHL tweener at this point.

Flyers have their own Arvidsson in Konecny if they choose to play him with the right people imo.

I feel bad for you NFG!😁
I think I have most all of you covered. I'll be 63 on Monday. Gotta tell you. I played in the checking league until I was 40. 63 isn't as much fun as I was led to believe it would be.

69 is no fun either, especially when you lived what you thought was a "bullet proof" life. Oh well, at least I am on the right side of the dirt.

Is it really fair to call Gallagher a "garbage goal" scorer, tho?

He gets some tips and rebounds, and drives the net, but the guy's always had a pretty accurate shot and he scores a lot of goals from distance, like high slot, high circle off slappers and wristers.

Martel strikes me as being similarly skilled. A guy with a good shot, with a modicum of puck skill, willing to hustle, and a dash of grit. He isn't shy about going to the net, and his office is right off the far-post (like a lefty Briere).

The question mark is skating, but Gallagher was able to overcome that because he has enough compete and just enough skill to compensate. Maybe Martel can do the same, if given a chance.

Phillies reportedly upping their offer for Machado.😍

Not worried about re-signing him. I'm sure the Orioles have allowed teams to inquire what he wants in his next deal.

- hereticpride

If they give up anything more than EDLS or Medina (that includes Eflin), I'll carpet bomb the Eastern seaboard

If they give up Sixto, I'll go nuclear

Machado is not worth it. Sign him in FA if he makes it there.

Go head hit me with omg he's 25 and SoOOooOOoO goOOoOoOd!!!!!!!!1! Idgaf. Strip the team of SP behind Nola and you're at square one, back to 80 wins.

He just can’t hak it. There’s too much on the line to risk it. I’d rather play it safe and throw weise out there. Dump the puck and take a body then hustle back to the bench

The ONLY COMBO where he has been productive at all was when he was played with G and Coots. Unless you are envisioning a fantasy line of players not on the roster that's as good as it gets. If the FLyers move him off of that line, G and Coots get better (see the stats) but TK vanishes like a mirage (again see the stats).
